I do agree. I'm surprised that this event attracted couples -- generally with anything like this one partner will be required to go and the other will sort out the babysitting. But the fact that these were all professional people indicates that they would have normal babysitting arrangements and the only possible excuse for bringing a baby would be that you had been left in the lurch at the last moment, in which case the couples concerned should have taken it in turns to be out of the room while the baby was yelling. In fact, with four of them there, they could have improvised a crèche, with each of them spending a maximum of a quarter of the session out of the room. All very unprofessional and very unfair on everyone else!

Yes. They should have gotten a sitter.
The people running the show should have asked them to leave as soon as their kid started acting up. I blame them just as much as the idiots who brought their babies.
Wake up parents. Not everyone thinks your little bundle of poo is the most precious thing on earth. When I'm at a restaurant paying $15 or more for an entree, I don't expect to hear your screaming brat or have him running around like a wild animal disrupting my evening.
If I come to Chuck E. Cheese or McDonald's, I expect to see kids running around. That's what those places are for. However, when it's anywhere that serves alcohol, that means it's an ADULT restaurant, and, if your kids can't behave like adults, GET A SITTER!

I think that people who bring babies to such a thing are morons!
Even if it was important to them to attend, they should not have if they could not get a sitter. It was extremely rude of them to disrupt everyone else there - in an obviously adult forum.
I think more then anything, it points to their selfishness. Everybody is just so me-me-me anymore. They probably never even thought once about the feelings of the speakers or guests before they came and ruined the whole affair.

You're absolutely right.. the only babies that should attend a forum like this are unborn ones!
I'm surprised that an event of this type involving so many legal officials didn't have someone to enforce order.. including escorting fussy babies and their parents out of the meeting!

YES! Leave your baby at home! Don't take to them to a professional forum, a movie theatre, a school play, or a high school graduation...anything. If your baby will disturb a function or gathering, it's inappropriate to have them there.

Absolutely. I think children (since they're ARE after all little people--not aliens) should be allowed in MOST places, but not all. Namely forums like the one you mentioned above, movie theaters (heck, any type of theater for that matter) and expensive restaurants.

Ugh, I cant stand people who do that. We have had a large amount of people in our office recently popping out the little rugrats and they all feel the need to bring them into the office to "show them off". They scream and yell and people are freaking trying to work.
I am glad you are happy wiht your child, but have a little respect for those of us whom dont like to be around that.

Some people brought babies? The crying is extremely annoying and rude. Once the crying began and it wasn't going to stop, the babies should have been removed.
Yes, it was rude to bring them. Perhaps the babysitters called off?

Definitely not a "bring your own baby" type event.
They could have at least traded off keeping the kid outside the auditorium.

the fault belongs with the people who ran the forum...they need to anticipate that people who might attend are likely to be more stoopid than a bag of rocks...those people should have been stopped at the door at told to buzz off...
