My brother married a woman right out of the Bulgarian 3rd world, and she has been in the USA since he brought her here 5 yrs ago. They have a little girl who is 4 yrs old and very big for her age. I and my sisters have gone to dinner with them and went to their house for Thanksgiving and it never fails, there little girl always wears her clothes too small. Her mother put her in a size 4 and she really needs to be in a 6. I know this because I have taken her out and bought clothes for her. Her little dresses show her whole rear end and she wears everything way too small. My sister tried to tell them her clothes were to small, but they just dont get it. I think her mother thinks since she is 4, she should wear a 4, but its starting to be a little ridiculous since she started pre school last year. She also puts her in sandals which are too small to go to pre school and its cold here in Illinois. How can we convey gently her kids clothes arent big enough?

My 6 year old is in 1st grade and when she gets home from school she goes straight in the room and lays down and goes to sleep. Then she sleeps for hours and goes to bed again right after dinner. Has anyone else had an issue with this? She goes to the dr tomorrow I am thinking low iron or something. Anyhow I am wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on what this might be and maybe I can mention it to the dr. Thanks.

Such as gymnastics/tumbling, martial arts or dance? We have a little boy who will be 3 next May. He's above average developmentally and we want to keep him stimulated and happy. We're not in a rush, nor do we want to make it his life of course, but my husband and I have been thinking about different things he might like to do for fun. We don't want to do anything that my hurt his bones or put him at risk. I will ask his pediatrician, but I just wanted a quick answer or 2.
What do you think?

Do I need to apply to 3 or 4 preschools in case I don't get a spot? Or are 2 enough, or even 1? Thanks.

I have been trying to find some form of discipline for my daughter when she misbehaves but I don't think she understands the concept of timeout. Also, should I put her in timeout for a tantrum? (i.e stomping her feet, and screaming)

Last night my 2 1/2 year old daughter was jumping back and forth from the couch to the laundry basket (it was empty and she was crawling around in it with her blanket) when she suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs. I turned around and grabbed her and when she calmed down she stated that she had hit her privates on the edge of the hamper. I went and looked and her labia was very red and so was her buttock on that side. She had no bleeding and everything seemed "in tact". She calmed down and went to bed. This AM when I was holding her in my lap and putting her jacket on she was scooting around uncomfortably and said "my private hurts". Should I take her in to make sure she is ok. I dont want to put her through an unnecessary exam "down there" but I want to know that all is well. Any advice will be appreciated. (I am a first time mom so sorry if this seems paranoid!)

My 4 year old adopted son has recently had two incidences where he has said he is hungry, and then about 5 minutes later or less, he has 'blacked out' and almost fainted.

We are not letting him get too hungry and he eats good meals and snacks. It is real scary to see him just stagger and then fall to the floor and say he's so hungry.
We get him food right away and hes seemingly fine immediatley after eating.

My wife and I are now closely monitoring him and keeping boxes of cookies and crackers and snacks with us at all times so he can eat on demand. His Dr. has also carried out blood work which will be back with results within the week.

Our poor baby, its so worrying and I wondered if anyone else has experienced this or may have any advice about what this could be or anything we could do to ensure he never gets like this.

my 2.5 year old has been is speech therapy for about 3 months for low muscle tone of his mouth. I wonder if he has apraxia but his st said he is to young to dx with apraxia. He has one major sympton like saying a word and then not saying it for while, then it may pop out again. He also still drools, esp when he is concentrating on something, can't blow bubbles yet or pucker very good but he is making wonderful progress.

we couldnt sleep all night, she started the movement around 12am and I decided to monitor it because it was bugging me,(she slept in my bed), so come to find out she couldnt help it, her legs will just move or change positions every 15 to 20seconds, it went on for an hour and I got scared bcoz it was disturbing her sleep too, I figured she wanted to stop, but it just moved for few seconds and then wait for another 15seconds and she starts kicking again. Im very worried, has any of you experienced this. I called the 24hour nurse line and to go see the doctor, I am later, but have you experienced anything like this, Im browsing online, about involuntary movements in sleep, but its all so confusing. help help me.

He is 6 years old he did not talk till he was almost 4 years old and he learned to potty train at 5, The behaviors he shows are repetitve movements EX. going around in circles on his toes and flapping his hands, spinning on his stomach,he has shown sensory problems with loud noises and some touch, with the noises he jumps up and down and screams with his back arched. He will go up to complete strangers and rub there arms, and clothes and faces if he can reach it.also with the noises he will sometimes run and hide.Even though he does not watch violence on tv he reacts violently making up stories of death and mayhem, if he is told no he also get violent and breaks things. He is in special ed 1st grade and his teacher says he reads but is in the lowest class. As usual his teacher has "recommended" ritalin or others drugs to make him pay "attention" but we are sure that this is not a open and close case.Him and his mom were hit by a car walking and he was thrown several feet in a car seat.

I just started giving him two OZ of milk to in every bottle about four days ago. He is one year old. I just found this big rash on his chest a couple minutes ago... he is as happy as can be right now. Should I take him in? Wait it out? Is it normal for babies to pop up with rashes sometimes? Nothing else I can think of has been out of the ordinary, ezcept that the PJs he is wearing need to be washed, but the dryer has been busted at my appartment complex since the 30TH and they haven't come out to fix it! I'm hoping that's what it is. I took his clothes off. Any advice or suggestions? Here's a pic:

My daughter was just potty trained and she still wears diapers to bed. Anyway, how do I get her to use the potty in walmart and places like that? Do I hold her over the potty or ? Anyone have any advice. I want her to be completely potty trained but I think public toilets are probably too big and have a lot of germs.

Do you teach your toddler that it's okay to do this?

I have a son who is almost 3. Anytime someone around us has said this, I've told my son, "that's not very nice to call someone that" (and he wouldn't).
Then again, I noticed on Merry Christmas Charlie Brown they say it several times and other parents say it around their young children.

What are your thoughts?

My son is turning 18month the end of december ,he isonly saying few words(mama dada and nana) thats it ,when we call him he never answers us or look at us he always ignores everything around him ,if i ask him to do something like throw something in the trash ,give me something or just come here he just ignores me ,and one more thing he loves little details but everything around him is like non existing and i know 5 kids that are his age and they don't act like that, i have talked to his doc and he mentioned autism which i have been reading about and doing researches since he was 1.
I just wanted to know if there are mothers out there that have the same worries about their kids and what the doctors told you about it .
