My 6 year old is in 1st grade and when she gets home from school she goes straight in the room and lays down and goes to sleep. Then she sleeps for hours and goes to bed again right after dinner. Has anyone else had an issue with this? She goes to the dr tomorrow I am thinking low iron or something. Anyhow I am wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on what this might be and maybe I can mention it to the dr. Thanks.

Are you young too? This man is clearly a pedophile hun and was probably telling you this to engage you some sick way. I am sure he was enjoying telling this horrid stuff. Unfortunately child abuse can be a cycle. People who were abused can grow up and be abusers. So as to whether his story is true, it could be, or it could be a lie. You need to tell someone about this man though because he is a menace. Also do not talk with him again.

I would definitely have your child checked for anemia. I have an iron deficiency and if I forget to take extra iron I can sleep for days on end. Has your child changed her eating habits? Is she having regular bowel movements? It would be a good idea to talk to your doc. about all of these things.

I am a first grade teacher, and once I had a child who had Mono that was sleeping all the time. He had no other symptoms, but his mom took him to the dr. and he got tested.

I am sure its not school.
Could be mono or anemia or even depression. I would ask the Dr. about all of these. I am sure he will do bloodwork.
Good Luck! I hope everything is okay.

it may be the actual schoolwork she is doing. she may not be getting used to waking up for a schedule, and so many hours in school can be grueling. she may just be exhausted from her schedule. it depends on her behavior on weekends.
