Do I need to apply to 3 or 4 preschools in case I don't get a spot? Or are 2 enough, or even 1? Thanks.

It depends on how many of the preschools in your area would be acceptable to you. If there are only 1 or 2 you would be happy with, there's not much point in applying to others unless you would be willing to send your child to a school that doesn't meet your standards or your child's needs. If you're fortunate enough to have 3 or 4 good schools, and they all have waiting lists, you might as well go ahead and get on the list at all of them.

You should call the school to see if there is a waiting list, if it is a school that you want. Then get on it. The only right amount, is the amount of schools that you are interested in.

My daughter's preschool does not have a waiting list, and she has been there since she was 2 1/2.

Depends on where you live and the current population of preschoolers. There are actually FEWER preschoolers now in my area than even 5 years ago (this according to my fellow scrapbookers). On top of that, the public school system now has a preschool as well. Ask the moms in your area. Ask at the place you are interested in since they may not even have a waiting list.

I tried to look here and none of the elementry schools had preschool. The city through parks& recreation offered some but they wouldnt give me information on the cirriculum, so I ended up putting her in a school (peace Lutheran). That was the best decision I ever made. She loves it, the classes are very small for pre-k, all the work they do is strictly one on one with the teacher, she has come along way and is very advanced for her age. The tuition was kinda pricey but it is well worth it.

Apply to at least 2 or 3, and start early! We had to start the application process by October for our son to be enrolled the following September. It really is ridiculous sometimes, but that's the price you pay for a quality program.

2-4 is the right number.

Be safe and apply to 4, it is all about risk to reward
