My son is turning 18month the end of december ,he isonly saying few words(mama dada and nana) thats it ,when we call him he never answers us or look at us he always ignores everything around him ,if i ask him to do something like throw something in the trash ,give me something or just come here he just ignores me ,and one more thing he loves little details but everything around him is like non existing and i know 5 kids that are his age and they don't act like that, i have talked to his doc and he mentioned autism which i have been reading about and doing researches since he was 1.
I just wanted to know if there are mothers out there that have the same worries about their kids and what the doctors told you about it .

My nephew has a 3 year old son that was recently diagnosed with a form of Autism. It is such a recent thing and they also live out of town so I don't talk to them much, that I haven't learned any more about what form it is or anything. The symptoms we noticed seemed almost exactly like what you mentioned. This little boy has to be one of the sweetest and happiest little guys ever, he just sort of does what he wants and for lack of a better phrase he's "in his own little world", as my sister-in-law put it. I mean NOTHING rude by that at all. He just really doesn't pay alot of attention to anything going on around him either. I know that they now have him in a special school for Autism and he has progressed A LOT since they put him in this school.
I hope the best for you and your little little boy. Autism can be a scary diagnosis but there are so many forms of it. Besides, like other people have said, maybe they need to do a hearing check. All children are different, maybe he is just on his own time schedule on learning to talk and do things, not every child learns at the same rate. My daughter (now age 7 and talks like no other) didn't talk alot until she was about 2 or 2 1/2, she had everyone else to talk for her!!
I know this doesn't help in the way a mother wants answers for her child, but I hope this helps in some way.
I wish the best for you and your family and I hope you get some answers really soon.

Wow, it really does sound like it could be autism. Either that or maybe a hearing problem? Well, if it is, they are making great strides in helping children with that. You should see another doctor to get a second opinion. Maybe his regular pediatrician is waiting to see if things turn around for your son or not. There may be a certain age where they start to feel more concerned, since children all develop at different rates. I would like to hear how this turns out for you.
These challenges are what make us realize our own potential; we all have strengths we didn't know we had, and yours will get you through anything.
Good luck to you and your sweet baby.

Pick him up and carry him around the room and put his hand on things and say the word. Like "picture" "door" "toy" "cup". That is how they learn to speak.
