I just started giving him two OZ of milk to in every bottle about four days ago. He is one year old. I just found this big rash on his chest a couple minutes ago... he is as happy as can be right now. Should I take him in? Wait it out? Is it normal for babies to pop up with rashes sometimes? Nothing else I can think of has been out of the ordinary, ezcept that the PJs he is wearing need to be washed, but the dryer has been busted at my appartment complex since the 30TH and they haven't come out to fix it! I'm hoping that's what it is. I took his clothes off. Any advice or suggestions? Here's a pic:

Jess, hopefully that is what it is. My baby is sick right now (I passed a nasty cold down to him)

Has he been itching it? Is it anywhere else? It may be just from being hot.
If it doesn't itch, just wait it out. When my daughter was 7 months old she broke out from head to toe in a rash. I took her to the ER. She didn't seem to be bothered by it. The doc there said it was just her immune system going into over play because she did have a stuffy nose prior, and it was winter. Never had it since.
If it itches, could be excema. You can get excema lotion from Wal-Mart in the baby section. Keep it moist, with unfragranced lotion. If doesn't go away in a few days then I'd suggest taking him in for a check up.

Good luck

Yeah, my daugther's rash looked like that. The ER doc said as long as it didn't seem to bother her or itch, it would pass, just keep an eye on it. That is was just her body's way of over reacting to fighting off the cold. She's never had it since, or even a rash that itches for that matter. Sometimes it's just a fluke thing in life.

That looks identical to the rash my son got when he had strawberries. Actually I had the strawberries and he was nursing so it doesn't take much. He was completely fine and it went away in a day or so.
Stop adding the milk and see if it goes away in a couple days then try small amounts again. If it returns you know you've found the culprit. It wouldn't hurt to call the doc but they'll say essentially the same thing unless he has any other symptoms. Babies do occassiionally get rashes with no apparent cause but looking like an allergy rash and corresponding to introducing milk is a lot of coincedence.

The next thing to find out is if he's allergic to the milk protiens or simply doesn't digest the lactose well. My son can't handle lactose but is fine with small amounts of regular milk and things cooked with milk he just drinks the kind with added lactaid most of the time.

Good luck and watch for any signs of other symptoms.

I would email the pic to your doctors office - it probably is some form of heat rash but it also could be roseola. Roseola is VERY dangerous for pregnant women so you should get this checked out.

I would wait an hour or so and see if it goes away once the pj's are off. If it goes away then its probably just heat rash otherwise a doctor is in order.

My New Born had that all over her body.
Its an Alergic reation. You Should take him to the doctor.
Mine had me use these to make sure.

Change milk(formula)
Use All Free n clear (or and free n clear detergent)
Get rid of fabric softener (cant use any of them)
Use Dove soap (just the regular white bar)

if the baby(child) is ok and not showing any other signs then its just a skin allergy. If other symptoms occur (Like swelling. Vomiting. Crankiness {like needing to scratch but cant} then go to emergency room right away)

Looks like a simple heat rash to me but it could be a reaction to the jammies he was wearing. How long were they in contact with his skin?

If you are this concerned at least talk with his doc about it. It could harmless or it could be a warning sign of something more.

With my second child at about 2 weeks old his bum started to look similar to this. Turned out he was allergic to White Cloud diapers. After multiple tubes of over the counter and prescription diaper rash creams, changing over to Huggies diapers cleared it up in 3 days.

Could be an allergic reaction, but my kids have had rashes like that and I was always told it was a viral rash and would clear itself up. Milk allergies usually don't show up in a rash, but in poop problems, at least in my experience.

With it being on her hairline like that i could be susceptible to assert it somewhat is warmth rash. Does she sweat usually? And is it warm on your area? attempt dabbing the returned of her neck with a cool cloth in the process the day too.

make sure he is not too warm. my daughter used to get heat rashes similar in looks when too warm. she also has sensitive skin, so I now wash clothes in perfume/dye free detergent & no softeners. call the doc if not cleared up in a day or so.

I would have a doctor look at the rash just in case.
