we couldnt sleep all night, she started the movement around 12am and I decided to monitor it because it was bugging me,(she slept in my bed), so come to find out she couldnt help it, her legs will just move or change positions every 15 to 20seconds, it went on for an hour and I got scared bcoz it was disturbing her sleep too, I figured she wanted to stop, but it just moved for few seconds and then wait for another 15seconds and she starts kicking again. Im very worried, has any of you experienced this. I called the 24hour nurse line and to go see the doctor, I am later, but have you experienced anything like this, Im browsing online, about involuntary movements in sleep, but its all so confusing. help help me.

okay ppl, I went to the doc and she said my toddler has pinworms, I have never heard of this before, but kids can get it from daycare or preschool. and will not let them sleep at night, she said it happened to her and her daughter too. I went on kidshealth.org. , it gave me an insight on it. scarey stuff, but the doc assured me it is nothing to worry about.

I did that when I was little. It was kind of a family joke that no one ever wanted to share a room with me when we went up north. They'd never get sleep. I know there is this new diagnosis that everyone loves so much. Oh how this society loves to diagnose! (Restless leg syndrome). But I think sometimes people just sleep differently. People can't exhale when they were expected to inhale without getting a diagnosis.

My daughter will do that too.She will get in bed with us sometimes and I will get kicked or slapped in the middle of the night and I'll wake up to find her sleeping. But it doesnt happen all the time. She started doing that off and on when shes was 2 going on 3.Now shes 4 and a half but I think she gets that after me.My husband has woke up with me hitting him or kicking him or me stratching the heck out of my bumps and when I wake up blood is on my fingers from doing it or he will ask me what was I dreaming about.I also talk in my sleep and my daughter will do the same thing when she starts kicking and swinging her arms and legs in her sleep.I think thats our way of having nightmares or dreams that seems so real I dunno.

AHHHH, i have the same issue and it is soo annoying yet uncontrolable... i had no idea what my issue was untill i seen a commercial on RLS, restless leg sydrom... its hard to explain the feeling but its an uncontrolable earge to have to move your legs and mostly happens at night when laying down, relaxing etx.... take her into the doctor for a proper diagnosis...could be just growing signs. i still have not gone into the doctor for mine just becuase i dont like going on meds for something that isnt life threatening and i dont like the possible side effects.

My little boy thrashes in his sleep, but I don't think it's ever been as continuous as what you described with your little girl. You might check her during her naptimes to see if she does it then, and try to monitor her again during the night to be sure it wasn't a one time thing. Maybe she was having a dream that she was swimming or something. I hope the Dr. gives you some clues.

I do it, my mom does it and you know what, my daughter was doing it when we went for our 20 wk ultrasound and she is 3 now and still does it. I think it is called RLS and I have seen the ads for the drugs for it and I think the side effects are much worse than actually moving your legs. I know it bothers you, it bothers my husband when we are sleeping but I dont notice it until he speaks up. I think she is ok though, but if you are still concerned take her to the doc.

what does she do just before bed? she should play quietly with toys, not video games. you could read to her for a while. have her take a bath with the baby soap that relaxes babies. tests have shown that playing video games before bed stimulates the brain and makes children move more while sleeping. or it's just a dream and won't happen again soon.

her behavior is really normal. She is in a stage right now where the awakening emotional centers of her brain are connecting with her motor centers, just about all toddlers go thru this, that is why they made bumpers for cribs, so these little guys wouldn't hurt themselves kicking about in their sleep thru this period. Keep your doctor's appointment, if only for your peace of mind, but really it is quite normal.

that's punctiliously typical. My son is 5 mo previous and nevertheless strikes constantly. it somewhat is the bodies way of studying what controls what for arm and leg flow. the different bonus is, it tires the infant out so as that they do sleep greater effective!

my 3yr daughter does the same thing at night & she kicks the heck out me. I remember my younger brother doing the same thing as a kid. for the most part, I don't believe it's bad other than simply being annoying.
