Our daughter refuses to say please and thank you. This is driving my wife crazy, and often leads to tears. It's such a little thing, but she won't say it!
Are we right to continue to demand she says please and thank you, or should we just forget about it until she is older and understands more?

She will be 2 years old in January. She is sleeping fine in the crib and is not able to climb out. The only reason we would move her to a toddler bed is so that she will get used to sleeping in a "bed" rather than a "crib," so that it doesn't become difficult to transition her later on. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant with baby #2 and I am concerned that I won't be able to lift her in and out of the crib once I am pregnant. However, I worry about moving her to a toddler bed because she might roll out at night (it only has a rail on one side) and because she might get out of bed in the middle of the night. Should we move her to a toddler bed now, or just wait until it's absolutely necessary. Also, we are definitely going to use a toddler bed and not a twin bed because our crib converts to a toddler bed. Thanks!

My sisters 4 year old boy was premature...we have always known he is allergic to eggs....he is small and slight and often gets sick...like he'll get over one thing then get something else.
The doc has just said that he has asthma too...and now he wants to test for more allergies...he has found that he is allergic to cats and so suspects that the reason he is always ill is that there may be even more allergies....in your experience do kids with allergies get sick a lot? He is very light for his age and it's a worry...

This is my pet peeve. I notice it a lot lately, a kid that looks like they are about kindergarten age walking around with a pacifier stuck in their mouths, or worse a bottle! There's something about that sight that bugs the crap out of me. Anyone else feel the same way? Why do some parents allow their almost school age children to run around with dummies and bottles? Is it their way of keeping the kid a baby forever??

I've been dating a girl for about a year, and she has a 2 1/2 year old son with 50% custody. She really enjoys having him sleep in the bed with us (between us) even though he has a bed of his own in the room on nights she has him. Is he too old to be sleeping in the same bed as us? I feel like it will make him too dependent on her/us, and it makes me feel a little uncomfortable as well. It also causes some intimacy problems in our relationship. Anyone have any advice?

My kids put a toy in the toilet and the water won't go down. We took the toilet off the base and the pipes are clear, so whatever it was is stuck in the actual toilet. Any advice on how to get it out? We tried this thing we got from Lowes you use to unstop toilets and a wire clothes hanger, but we can't get it out.

She's had a cold for over a week..she's not sleeping well and due to MY lack of sleep I'm getting impatient and it's not her fault...I know.
My question is how to keep her happy and busy throughout the day. I can't take the constant whining and crying and my back is killing me- she wants to be held (and walked around) she's not happy just sitting with me on the couch or playing on the floor/carpet.
What other ideas do you have?

My son was diagnosed with a speech delay. (22 months) We've been working our tails off and he's finally speeching a little bit.

The major problem is he isn't understanding stuff when you ask him a question, Do you want your milk? yes or no. He doesn't say anything.

Anyone been there or have suggestions?

Our 6 year old daughter, has very bad eczema. We have cream for it, but when we put it on she wipes it off because it stings her so much.

We got another cream but she does the same thing. We have had basically every cream for eczema under the sun!

I no what you will say, watch her so she wont rub it off, we do but we cant watch her all day and night when there are another 2 kids in the house.

We have asked our nanny to do it, but India screams and has tantrums, so it makes life difficult.

She wakes up each morning and comes into our bed because, her eczema is so raw, that she crys and needs comforting.

I wash her bedding every day because she iches it so much it bleeds. This morning has been especially bad.

We were woundering if anybody knew any ways to stop her pain? We have made an appoitment with our doctor, but she is determinde not to go!

Please help us!! Thanks

My 2 year old has a sleeping problem in which he wakes up 3-5 times a night screaming.. I don't know what is causing this and I have stopped giving him caffiene and sugar all together but his doctor keeps telling me that it is normal.. he is terrified and i don't know what on earth could be scaring him to the point of shaking.. I am a single mom and I have never beat or abused him, left him anywhere or anything I could think of that could upset him like this.. I have even put him in bed with me and it doesen't stop his screaming.. I don't know what to do or how to make anyone listen that there is a problem.. when he stays at other peoples houses they swear he doesn't do that but I have stayed there with him and seen that he does. any opinions?

A childhood friend of mine has a six year old daughter who my family picks up from preschool 5 days a week and we bring her home until her mother picks her up. I have a 2 year old son. Let me say that I am not close with her mother at all. Her mother and my mother are best friends. The 6 y/o is sick ALL THE TIME. And has been for YEARS. It is obvious her mother could care less about her, the child bathes herself once a week and dresses herself. I live in Mass. and it is typical that she doesn't even wear a coat, hat, or mittens. Last year she got my son sick and he had pnemonia for 2 weeks. Then we didn't watch her for about 7 months. She was here on Christmas and she could HARDLY BREATHE. Her eyes were literally swollen shut. My son was already on antibiotics for an ear infection and now he is very ill, probably pneumonia again. My mother called her and left her a msg saying we could not watch her anymore. Is there anything else I should do in this situation?

My first child is almost one year old and I am working on transitioning her to a sippy cup and also onto taking more solids and less formula. We're switching to organic cow's milk once we have worked on this current transition!
I don't know if I am feeding her correctly. She's quite picky and sometimes eats a ton, othertimes eating like a little bird. I have no idea if this is too mjuch or too little. Please tell me what you think:
One 8 ounce bottle around 6am (she usually takes about 6 oz)
Breakfast at 8 (usually baby oatmeal and banana or wholewheat pancakes and fruit)
A small snack (usually wheat toast with a topping like cheese or hummus)
Lunch (veggies and some protein)
Bottle around 12:30 (around 8 oz)
Small snack (yogurt or crackers), mid afternoon
Dinner around 5:30 - whatever we're having
Bottle at 7:00 (6-8 oz)
-She also take sips of water whenever she wants although she refuses formula from a sippy cup. She's not liking it at all!
Thanks for any advice!
