It really depends on how well your child will adjust to a change from normalcy. Perhaps skipping the nap at the normal time and just preparing and arriving at the party at the given time, will allow him to play out of his nap, but be tired enough to rest and sleep throughout the evening when it's bed time. The next day, just resume the same schedule. If he seems restless, perhaps try some warm milk(if he's not lactose intolerant) or just a soothing snack or liquid that helps him to better sleep. Enjoy and be Safe...(smiles)

Get him up a little earlier in the am and that way he will go to sleep earlier. Get him dressed and fed and then lay him down for the nap. That way you can just scoop him up and he will finish his nap in the car for you 45 minute drive. He'll be fine.

Will he sleep in the car? If so, he can take his nap while you're driving and hopefully be nice and refreshed for the party. If not, you may just have to send your present and card early enough so they arrive in time to be opened at the party.

well, if you watch his drinking you can use him as a designated driver. or if you do get pulled over you can throw him out of the window to distract the police. no! wait. shove him back inside then at some random time pop him out. people will go crazy! you'll be the hit of the party
