is nail polish bad to use on a 11 month old just for one special day, as long as u make sure she dont put her fingers in her mouth?

I painted my daughters nails at 12 months once just for fun. I did it while she was napping and yes, throughout the day she did put her fingers in her mouth, but it didn't hurt her. Babies are tough little things and a bit of nail polish won't kill her. If she got ahold of the bottle and drank it maybe...
Oh, and to the person who commented above me,... WHAT?!
Painting her childs nails is bad for baby's heallth EXCEPT halloween?! What about halloween makes it any safer than any other day? And the comments that painting her nails will make her "grow up too fast"? ROFL! Thats ridiculous! makes me wonder how many of you have pierced your babies ears....
*sigh* people really need to get a grip. babies are not made of glass! half the time they're more resiliant than we are!

Your daughter is so young, let her have a chance at just being a little girl. Please don't make her grow up so fast, children do that alot these days. Besides nail polish is not good to be used on such a young child. She could put her fingers in her mouth and it could make her sick. Besides how will you get it off? You can't use nail polish remover it is just as bad for her if not worse. Try a pretty bow and a cute outfit for her special day.

Is it is. Ok you might just want to have a little fun with your new baby dressing her up and such, but she's your baby.... why does she need nail polish to complete her for this special day....? Come on is it Halloween? Besides these, it's not healthy for her considering the fumes, the possibility she can still get her fingers in her mouth if you take your eyes off her for a split second, and the chemical is too harsh for her baby nails.... Don't make her grow up so fast, let her be a baby while she is one.

Yes it's bad. For a number of reasons.
11 month old babies do not need nail polish or any other "addition" to look cute/pretty. Let her be beautiful just as she is.
We could all benefit from this advice. Sometimes it's hard such a vain society...
But, at least for now, let her feel beautiful just as she is, and make sure you let her know that she is perfect without having to add a thing.

I think it's fine, especially if it's only for a day. THe biggest concern with children and nail polish, is that IF something happened and she was ever rushed to emergency, they usually look at baby's fingernails and toenails for health reasons. It's a quick way for them to tell if the baby is ok.
But I used to always paint my daughter's toenails in the summertime when she was wearing sandals (not her fingernails) and nothing bad ever came of it. She was about 12 months when I started doing that, not as a newborn.

Bad Idea. Just the fumes are unhealthy for a baby. But I'm pretty sure they make some for younger girls that is not toxic and or as serious as real nail polish

You can buy nail polish in the toy section of most department stores that peels off. As long as she doesn't suck any of her fingers I think it would be cute to dress her all up pretty. I would test it first on one finger and see how she responds to it. Have fun!!

It's probably okay for one day, but I still wouldn't do it. Babies at that age put their fingers in their mouth all the time and I wouldn't want my baby to get any of the toxins in their system. Then if it's just for one day, you would have to use a nail polish remover to get it off, and that has alot of toxins too. Babies look cute without using nail polish, make up, etc...

I think its fine. We took my kids on a cruise and my daughter was only 8 months and we painted her fingers and toes...She looked so cute! As long as the polish dries before she puts it in her mouth she will be fine. People over react about such silly stuff. Just make sure its non toxic and you'll be fine. She is going to look so cute! My husband just did my daughter's the other night! She is 15 months old! Good luck getting her to sit still...try it while she is sound asleep!

I wouldn't do it. It would be hard to make sure she doesn't put them in her mouth and plus the remover would be bad for her to breathe etc. Just not a good idea special day or not.
