Our two and a half year old son refuses to at his meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) because he'd rather play. When we sit down as a family he doesn't want to sit and eat, just play. If we talk to him he just says "no". Then if we pick him up and sit him down he cries and sees eating as a punishment. The times he does eat is when we leave a plate of food in the play area and he picks at it while playing and even then he doesn't eat much. He has no favorites for us to cook and the only thing he prefers is his orange juice. How can we get him to eat at the table with us without "forcing" him to eat with us?

My son is 4 1/2 years old. He's about 112 cm in height and 18 kilos in weight. Sorry for the metric. He's 90th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight.

I don't need to carry him too often, but sometimes he falls asleep in the car or on the couch. Sometimes in church he wants to picked up while we're signing songs. Physically I can lift him and carry him to bed, even if it means going up the flight of stairs, but being pregnant it exhausts me. Should I or my husband keep picking him up or is he too old for it?

My son just came home from his 18 month check up and the doctor wants him to see a speech therapist. He does not say any clear words. He says certain things for certain things, but, no real words. He communicates very well in other ways though. He has no red flags for autism-other than no words-so I'm not really concerned about that. Could it be that he really dosen't have to talk. I mean, I know what he wants without him having to tell me. Has anyone else had any experience with speech therapy at this age? What should I expect?

I have a 2 yr and 3 yr old. And they are both picky eaters. I've tried to add variety into their diets and follow the food pyramid but they snuff and say they don't want it. I've tried doing the whole, take food away and place it back at the table, but I think they'd rather starve. I've had to stick with PB and J, mac & cheese, grilled cheese, yogurts, and every now and then a pasta dish. I feel that they are not get the adaquate nutrition that they need. I've been giving them a daily vitamin and a fruit and veggie vitamin (supposed to be comparable to 2 servings of fruits and veggies a day). My doctor told me that my 2 year old has low iron. I'm very concerned that they may be malnurished but I just can't seem to get them to eat. Does anyone have any ideas?

Oh yeah, the 3 year old is a big influence to his sister, I feel that if I can get him to eat the 2yr old will follow suit.

We recently switched my baby from breast milk to whole milk (pediatrician's request) and we have noticed that he's been getting constipated. What can I do to help him ease the constipation. My poor son puches and puches and nothing comes out and if something comes out is a itty bitty ball of poop.

♣Thanks in advance for your feedback.

my older daughter didn't lose hers until she was halfway through 1st grade. My 4 yr old also got all of her teeth VERY early, she started teething at 3 months and three teeth came in at a time, she had all of her teeth by the time she was 6 months old. Would that have anything to do with losing baby teeth early?

My daughter will be 3 in just a month. We have been working on potty training for almost a year now. We had a scare back in July when she ended up in the hospital for being overly constipated. It is a cycle. We will put her in underwear and she does really good as far as peeing goes, no accidents but she will get to the point of not pooping or only pooping when we have a diaper on. So we end up puting a daiper on her and then the peeing starts happening in the diaper again and were at square one. urrrrg!!! So we put her in underwear 4 days ago and she has been doing great, first night she waited until we put a diaper on her for bed to poop, and now she hasn't pooped for 3 days!!! What can I do!!!!!!

Sometimes when the four year old boy that I watch asks me something, I get annoyed. Like when he asks me what I'm doing.
I like kids a lot, but sometimes when I'm tired I get annoyed. Then everytime I go to do something in the kitchen, he has to follow me and come and see what I'm doing, lol, and my apartment is not that big, it is also crowded with toys and things that I provide for the kids.
Sometimes when he asks to watch a movie or play a game I tell him no or I hold off on it, bc I may be on my computer playing a game or checking my email.
But him and his little brother have plenty of toys to play with. Is this mean?
I truly think that I'm really nice to them, I just get annoyed sometimes. Is it normal to get annoyed when babysitting kids??
Please take this question seriously, bc I would llike to know what I can do to improve.I have a 3 month old myself and I'm really patient with her, but it is harder to be patient with other people's children. How can I be better?
Thanks!

I have a 3-yr-old boy who has not taken well to potty training. I've noticed that when I put him on the potty chair he purposely holds himself, that is refuses to release his urine or poop. Finally after 30 or so minutes when I put his pull up on he will go in his pull up. My question is how do you handle a child who is refusing to release their waste. I've also tried putting him on the toilet and he does the same thing. Please help. Thank you.

my daughter is still having a hard time adsjusting to her biological dad whom she hasn't seen since she was three and now she is six. she cries and screams and yells that she doesn't want to see them. i have to carry her to meet him because of a court order. she inisists that he hates her and i haven't had the heart to tell her that he has two boys and a wife. when she was three he was married and had one child but she doesn't remember anything from three years ago including him. he wants to meet her with his parents and wife.when i was pregnant with her for the first six months of her life he ignored her then he became a part of her life. when she was three we had a huge argument and i broke off contact with him and we moved out of the country don't live n the USit is my fault that she hasn't seen her dad. recently i was in court and the judge demanded that he be allowed to see her or i lose custody I am also afriad that we will end up arguing in front of her. we can't get along

I suspect our daughter has croup, she will be visiting her ped tomorrow morning and is resting well now with the cool mist humidifier and one bathroom mist session. My question is should we cancel our vacation? We are departing on trip to Hawaii this Sunday and then will be embarking on a ten day cruise.

My two and a half year old dughter has been fully potty trained since September, but the past two weeks refuses to poop. She holds it in and just wont go untill she really has no choice. She says she isnt going to go any more.
The doctor told me this is normal toddler behavior and to give her Little Tummies Drops. Does anyone have any experience with this or other advice.
Thanks

my friend is like 5'0 or 4'9 and she is constantly complaining about this height because she is very small, slim, and short for her age (14). I always encourage her by saying that she will grow and it's ok, and i am her friend 4 her personality, not her height, but still, all the time she is complaining about her height. I told her 2 try stretches or something cuz i dont know wut else is causing it... yes, her parents are about average height so no one expects her 2 be super tall, but i dont get it! she eats a balanced diet and plays sports... I do know that her family has a lot of stress right now...anyway, all i can do is encourage her, never nag her, and tell others not to insult her... I know she is having family problems ( custody issues) and she doesn't need any more stress, so if anyone knows of any tips i can mention 2 her that might make her taller or seem taller, thanks.

My 17 month old son is starting to hit alot and it bothers me. He seems okay until other kids come around especially his nephew. I try putting him in time out and explaining it to him that it is not right, but he continues to do it. He hits and throws things. My bfs family is starting to bother me. They are always telling me it is not normal and they don't understand where he would get it from and that they have never seen a child hit like he does...blah blah. Anyway...I don't know what to do. We do not teach him this at all. What can I do?
