Hello.
Today I am baby-sitting a 2 year old boy.
I am a 13 year old girl.
What are some fun games to play with him?
He loves to destroy stuff & to rough house.
I don't want to play rough with him!
Thanks

I never played rough with the kids I babysat. If they get hurt, then they will tell their mom that you hurt them, or that they got hurt, then you might never get to babysit there again. Take him outside and let him run around until he is good and tired. Tell him you are going to time him while he runs back and forth. Then have him hop. Then have him walk backwards. For about an hour. Get him good and tired. Then bring him in and set him in front of the TV, find a good show or his favorite movie. Have him watch it while you fix him a snack. After the snack and movie tell him it is time for a nap. Have a great time.

It is impossible to catch a cold by going outside when it is cold. Cold weather is not the cause of illinesses, GERMS are and being cooped up in a house all day spreads MORE germs than playing outside. The cold kills most germs, the warmth keeps them alive and mulitpilying. Get your butt up from the computer, bundle him up, get a coat for yourself and take him outside to run and play and expell some pent up energy.

Do you have a few scratch proof pots and pans... 2 year olds love to play drums... Find a cardboard box to use as a car. Push him around ... then let him push the pots and pans. Make a tent with towels or small blankets... have a picnic.
Make up some cookie dough and let him make shapes... You may end up throwing it away.
Cheap play dough mix flour salt and water and knead ... a little food coloring makes it fun. Let him play with this while you make a few real cookies.
1 cup flour 1 cup salt.... enough water to make dough about 1/4 cup.

Lay on your back on the floor. Put pillows on either side of you. Pull him over you. Hold his arms straight out with your hands and lift his torso in the air with your knees or feet (but you'll probably have to do it with your knees, since he's small). Swing him gently back and forth, while making up some story like, "here comes Superman, flying through the air, through the clouds, dodging a jet (drop him a little when you do this), chasing a missle"....you get the idea. He will scream with delight and probably demand it, over and over. It's exhausting, but they love it, and you can use it as a reward for being good.

Spin him gently.. dance with him... let him climb...
2 year olds do not like to sit still..
Maybe getting some blocks he can build then knock down - again and again and again...
duck duck goose...
pull him in a wagon.
take him for a walk (even in the cold, just bundle him up -and keep him away from the street!)
or take him in the backyard and let him play outside..
clap hands and sing kids songs...
hopefully he naps a little for you.. you have your hands full...
break things down in small time frames...
search the internet for activities for two year olds...
good luck.

- Armpit farts. Two-year-olds love it.
- Magic tricks; learn how to do some magic tricks (you can find them easily online). Then teach him how to do some, and he'll be showing you his stuff.
- Let him play around on http://www.kneebouncers.com
EDIT: FYI - Cold temperatures won't cause a child to catch a cold or get sick, that's only a myth. A cold comes from a virus, which does not thrive in cold/dry environments.

Dance, blocks, coloring, funny faces, sing, running in circles , books. Be silly the sillier the better. Find some pans or bowls and let him pretend. Actually you don't always have to entertain them as much as you think. Have fun!

With a 2 year old it's all about distraction. Me and my little 3 yr. old like to sit in the floor and see who can grab his baseball first. he likes it when he wins! And when they cry I always say Hey ,. Whats that! he stops and looks and totally forgets he's crying. He's too funny!
