Im going to watch this question my four year old has been asking for ice skates to!

how bout for now you just rent the ones at the rink
let her try there

ice skates are expensive and do you really want to spend the money on something that she just wants to try

if she's taking lessons then buy her skates if she still wants to skate after the first set of lessons

I would buy bobskates. They are just small blades that attach to the bottom of her shoes or boots. Most sporting goods stores would have them. Wal Mart probably too.
