Any suggestions on how to deal with family members who aren't supportive of me being a Stay at Home Mom? I get tired of hearing rude comments about me not having a real job and assuming I watch tv all day. I also get tired of hearing that I'm doing my child harm by being at home because it will make him SPOILED and non-social. Any advice? Any good data out there?

My husband has this idea that it is okay to toughen up our child. I dissagree, because of the way that he is going about it. For example I locked all of the can goods in a cabinet, he says if the can falls on the childs foot they will learn not to do it again. How can you expect a 15 month old to understand this? Who's right in this issue??

My daughter will be turning 1 on Feb. 20th and I'm so excited. I just bought her a ride-on toy, but that only cost about $35 and we wanted to get her some other things that weren't toys. She LOVES blankets, but doesn't have one that is very large or soft or girly. I want to get her a nice one, but don't want to spend more than $25-30. I want one that is toddler-sized that she will be able to take to bed with her when she's older. Of course nothing that would be so warm that she could only use it in the winter. I was looking for a nice knit blanket but I can't find any good ones. Can you help me please?! :)

I need help... my 2.5 year old has been waking up every night for the last three weeks wanting to sleep with my husband and I. I have tried everything. He now says, "C.J. no like Cars room." We decorated his room in Cars 3 months ago because he wanted it. He has Cars appliques on the wall which we removed because he said he didn't want them anymore. We also took down the Cars posters and pictures. I don't know what to do from there.
I at first thought it was because he was afraid my husband was leaving. (My husband has been on 3 tours to Iraq, but he got home in August from his last.) He used to ask if dad was leaving soon, but we haven't had any problems of this nature until recently.
His most recent accurance included telling me he hated me... I need to do something quick... any advice would be helpful. In his 2.5 years he has never... never slept with us... always in a crib or a toddler bed. I really don't want to start now with him sleeping with us. Thanks in advance.

My daughter is 19 months. We have infrequent issues with her sleeping and tonight we're having a problem. I'm out of ideas and I'm home alone so I'm going to beg you for help. She refused to take a nap today at daycare so was wide awake from 7am-8:30pm, then she got to sleep but from 9-11 she was waking up for about a minute and just screaming on the half hours. Now she's wailing for like 30 second every 5 minutes or so. I've been going in there and rubbing her back and tucking her back in when she sounds to disraught but other than that I just don't know what to do. The last time she was like this my hubby brought her into our bed...bad idea. Took us a month to break and I'm not starting it back up. I don't know what to do for her...she's exhausted I'm sure, her favorite sleepy music is playing, her nightlight is on, she's snuggled into her blankets, and she has her "baby". I don't know what to do other than getting her up for a cuddle but I dont think that's a good idea. Help plz.

He is refusing to take his medicine. I gave him a luke warm bath and put 2 tsp. of childrens tylenol in his juice so that he would take it, now he won't drink his juice. I don't know what to do. He is so hot that he says he's floating when he's laying still and doesn't want to get up, he also says his brain hurts (maybe a headache?). I called the E.R. and they told me just to give him tylenol and a cool bath and bring him in tomorrow.

My son turned 3 in August and has no problem peeing in the toilet. He is not fully potty trained meaning he wears a pull-up only while sleeping. When it comes to pooping, he asks for a diaper. I practically beg him to sit on the toilet when he has the urge. He will sit and push for a minute and then he will hold it until bedtime or nap time (because he wears a pull-up to bed). HELP!

It happens at naps and at bed time. It is almost everytime. He doesn't have a cold and it doesn't last very long, but it's weird. His dad seems to think he has ashma, but he doesn't cough during the day and has no other symptoms. He just coughs about 6 or 7 times and thats all. Then he goes to bed. I will address it with the doctor on his next check up but what do you think?

My daughter gets worked up so quickly that there's really no warning -- you'd better give in quick or spend the next hour cleaning up puke. Standing firm isn't an option; she'd puke and cry for another hour while I cleaned up the floor, and I have a newborn to attend at the same time. She's also getting past the age of distraction. Any other tips besides caving in? She does tend to do it more when she's overtired, like any tantrum.

I have 2 sons, 4 & 2. My 4yo is good kid & was an easy baby, slept all night, never cried, etc. Then came baby #2. He never slept longer than 2-3 hrs & when he woke up he would scream at the top of his lungs (every single night for 18 months straight). He was so loud my neighbor commented on it, so I developed a bad habit of rushing in to soothe him back to sleep. Now at 2yo, he has terrible tantrums - he hurts himself, his brother, other kids at daycare. I tried ignoring him, but he wouldn't stop. He can yell for hours! I thought b/c he's speech delayed that maybe he was frustrated. I thought maybe he was partially deaf, but the hearing test was fine. It's starting to affect my relationship with my husband - our sanity is slipping and our patience is completely gone. I can really use some advice from other parents that have gone through this before. What did you do that worked for your family? Thanks!

He's roughly 36 lbs and a little over 3 ft and he's recently learned how to unbuckle the chest buckle in his car seat. And when he wears a bulky coat he can barely fit in there. However he occasionaly undoes the seat belt buckle that straps the car seat to the car (just to annoy me), he knows its not safe to unbuckle when the car's movin. His brother (3 1/2) went into a booster at 3 (they're about the same size). Would it be ok to have a 2 year old in one?

My 2 year old is holding her poo in. We started potty training a month or two ago and when she wouldn't go, we immediately stopped. Since then, she's held most of it in. She is a huge eater so when she poos about the size of a ping pong once a day we've become quite concerned. She'll clench her buttocks together. We've tried all the food tips (apple juice, fruits, prune juice) and that hasn't helped. We gave her a suppository and she let all of it out but she's holding it in again. We tried the suppository again and nothing this time. What can we do? Is there a reason as to why she is doing this?

I'm a temperary babysitter, babysit 3 or 4 days a week and 12 hours per day.
I charge only $1 per kid per hour. (There are reasons to charge low)
4 y-o boy and 3 y-o and 16 month baby girl. So it's $33 a day:
Things I do are :
1.cook breakfast
2. cook lunch (And watch their diet)
3.change dipers (include the 3-y-o girl, she has potty problem)
4. hand wash dishes (they don't have dish-washer)
5. disipline them and stop them fight
6. pick up toys, keep house clean
7. teach them drawing (art) or play games
8. cartoon time
9. Bath them BF their parents home

My questions are:
(1) Do I try do too much according to my pay and hours...?
(2) If you were in my shoes, what would you do...?
(3) Can you stand 12 hours babysitting?
I just try to not to hate this job...(even it's just 2 month....)
