hello, I have a 3.5 year old who is extremely slow eater. Takes a lot of time eating his food when eating on his own. Its not that he is not hungry, he wants to eat all by himself, but very slow. He has recently started going to the preschool+daycare. He seems to enjoys his time there apart from meals. I am really worried for him as he can not finish meals in time an therefore goes hungry most of the times. Can anyone please suggest a way out from this? What can I do? How should I make him understand that he needs to eat faster???

Hi my son is 4 in May and we live in Manchester UK. We live on a rough estate. I have got in a school out of the area and are looking to move house soon ,which is proving really difficult. My Partners family have lived on the estate for years and have lived the rough and ready way and i dont want my child to follow suit. H doesnt associate with anyone where we live as such, but i want to get him into doing something like, swimmng, beavers, so h's got something he enjoys now and when he is older with hope that he will lead a decent life. What activities can a four year old do?

I have never left him with someone I don't know and now I have to find somewhere to leave him while I work during the day two days a week. I hate that I have to do this and it's hard to imagine that any facility would be able to care for him like I want. What questions do I need to ask when I go to these places? And what do I need to look for? How do I find the best childcare possible?

I'm really worried that she is retarded in growth. She doesnt look retarded. She can not distinguish colours which is a basic kindergarten test.

What could this be? Has anyone else had a daughter like this?

What can I do to get my son on a better schedule? He doesn't get up until about 10 am, then I try to feed him breakfast then next thing I know its noon and he is exhausted. I tried to feed him before he goes to lay down for his nap between 12-1, but you know he JUST ate so hes not hungry. Then he wake up from his nap after about 2 hours sometimes 3 and he is hungry but its so close to dinner. I dont think he is getting enough food and snacks fill him up just as much!

What should I do to make sure he gets the proper amount of food? Bare in mind he is almost a year old and will no longer eat baby foods (he refuses them) so we are self feeding now for 99% of the time. He still gets his bottles of formulas, we haven't cut back on that.

Over all, she is a good girl. However, she just recently realized that she knew how to give a dirty look. Following the dirty look, is a hit or slap where ever she can reach. She'll do this to anyone, but mostly does it to me. She hits me, pinches me, & pulls my hair. It really does hurt, not to mention embarrass me. I feel that spanking her only shows her that what she is doing his o.k., but other forms of discipline do not work. I've used time-out, I've tried pretend crying to show her that hitting/being mean hurts & then shown her an example of being nice, like hugging or kissing, I've tried raising my voice, & all she does is laugh at me & then does it again. My friends say that I really need to show her who the boss is & spank her hard, but I just don't want to. Isn't there anything else I can do?

i have never had my little ones in home daycare but i have a feeling that i might not have a choice because i cant find a facility that takes part-time kiddos. so, it makes me nervous because their old daycare (when they were full-time) were strict, organized, and had cameras (military daycare facility). i liked that about them. with home daycare there is more one on one care, but no cameras. also, there is no promises that there is going to be someone their age to play with and probably less organization. my question to y'all is which do you prefer and what are the pro's and con's of both. any advice/answers is appreciated! thanks and stay warm!

We read a lot of responses here on books, toys, snacks, movies, etc. But looking for more specifics for an 18 month old and 30 month old. For example one great idea was scratch and sniff sticker book for the 30 month old - or a longer book like Go Dog Go. Is there something else you can think of that keeps your childs attention for longs spats. Its a 3 hour flight.

Every night about 8pm, my baby and I go upstairs into my bedroom. I hold her while she has a bottle of milk. She falls asleep in my arms and then I put her in her crib. Every night she wakes up crying to come into my bed. Her naps are usually in the early afternoon. I only see one tooth coming through. I need to break this habit....HELP!!

My daughter has 8 teeth (top and bottom) in the front, 2 molars and 2 more coming in. I let her taste a raisin the other day and she loved it! I was worried about her choking, though (although she ate that one just fine) and didn't give her any more. Are these still a choking hazard to a child her age?

I try to feed my daughter healthy foods and snacks. I also give her a lot of water to drink.

I ALWAYS have people saying things like, "Give her some cookies" or "Give her a Coke" or people always saying that I deprive her of all the good stuff.

She actually likes water and she loves fruit, so why give her junk if she likes eating the healthy foods.

Why do some people think its so WRONG not to give small children soft drinks and suckers and junk food all the time.

I'm just curious what other parents think.

In June we will be vacationing in the OuterBanks. It will take us 14 hours to get there. We will be making this trip in one day. I have a an 11-year old daughter, a 2 year-old son, and a 1-year old son. I am looking for any suggestions on how to make the trip go as "cry-free" as possible! Also, does anyone know of where I can purchase some items for the car such as a head rest (for when the kids are sleeping) or possibly a tray for the car seat? Thanks!

I cannot seem to find Elmo birthday invitation cards...either the kind that I can submit a digital pic of my daughter and they will put an Elmo background OR a regular paper card that I can stick a photo in on the front? Thanks so much! (I have checked Ebay as well).

Is this normal? She just has not shed any teeth yet and none of them are loose either. She has regular dental check ups and cleanings every six months. Is there anything I can do or give her to eat to make the process start quicker? Share your child's experiences when they lost they teeth please. Thanks
