In June we will be vacationing in the OuterBanks. It will take us 14 hours to get there. We will be making this trip in one day. I have a an 11-year old daughter, a 2 year-old son, and a 1-year old son. I am looking for any suggestions on how to make the trip go as "cry-free" as possible! Also, does anyone know of where I can purchase some items for the car such as a head rest (for when the kids are sleeping) or possibly a tray for the car seat? Thanks!

WOW brave. For headrest and such you may want to get some of those memory foam thingies. Maybe rent or borrow a portable DVD player with earphones Snacks and drinks. Stop fairly often. I think 14 hours is an optimistic guess. I'd find a book for ideas on car travel games. Rather thee than me.

Oh, I remember those days! :) We would leave very early, around 3am and the kids would sleep for at least 6 hours. This was delightful! After they woke up we would stop every 2 hrs or so, let them walk around and run off some energy. Coloring books, travel games, healthy snacks seemed to help. Good Luck!

Make sure they have a lot of thiings to keep them busy/occupied. Coloring books, crayons, books, puzzles, or if the daughter likes to listen to music, some earphones and a CD player. You can purchase all those things, and even things for the car at places like walmart or target, whichever store you have in your area. Very brave, good luck lol.

we take a 12 hour car trip every year, but we get ready about 2 weeks before hand with travel games, cards games,my daughters love these little video nows(you can get at target),coloring books w/crayons,good and healthy snacks with not so much sugar,oh ya and try not to let them take in too much fluids stopping makes the ride even longer then it has to be.and try to tried them out a bit before you get on the rode that helps.
and as for the travel head rest and pillows try wal-mart or target you could find pretty much every thing you will need at those two stores.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!!!

I would bring snacks, books, blankets, pillows,cd player, and trash bags. I would also get like a DVD player to entertain the kids and get some movies that they would like to watch one the trip. I would also bring wipes and paper towels just in case anything spills. I would deff get the DVD player and some music so the kids wont be out of control.

Good Luck

Please don`t try to drive that long without another driver with you . You can put a small TV in the back seat for the kids
