Every night about 8pm, my baby and I go upstairs into my bedroom. I hold her while she has a bottle of milk. She falls asleep in my arms and then I put her in her crib. Every night she wakes up crying to come into my bed. Her naps are usually in the early afternoon. I only see one tooth coming through. I need to break this habit....HELP!!

You need to stop putting her to bed after she falls asleep. You sound like you have a good routine going which is also key. She knows what to expect. Now try noticing when she's starting to dose off and then put her to sleep partially awake. See if this helps teach her to put herself to sleep. Then as this begins to work slowly put her in earlier to when she's fully awake. If she wakes up in the middle of the night before you go in make sure she's not just moaning or fussing a little in her sleep. (my daughter does that and if I go in to early I wake her up) Babies often wake up a few times during the night but once she learns to fall asleep on her own instead of you holding her she will be able to go back to bed on her own. If you need to get her then try the same thing and hold her until she's partially back to sleep and then put her back to bed. This will also help her learn to get back to sleep on her own. Eventually she won't need your help if she wakes up in the middle of the night.

Co-sleeping is a terrible habit to start, so it's good you've realized that and are willing to break the habit.

When she wakes up, go in her room and calm her down. Don't pick her up though. You're free to do whatever it takes to calm her such as rub her back, sing to her, etc. just don't pick her up. If she's crying..that's OKAY! Babies cry..and it's your job to teach her how to calm herself when she's crying. Do whatever it takes to calm her down, and once she calms down leave the room. If she starts crying again, go back in and do the same thing. Eventually, she'll fall asleep and eventually she won't even wake up anymore.

Be persistent though..persistency is the key. Good luck :-)

TRY ONLY HOLDING HER FOR A LITTLE WHILE, DON'T LET HER FALL ASLEEP IN YOUR ARMS. DO AN ACTIVITY W/HER TO MAKE HER SLEEPY AND TIRED. GOOD LUCK
