The poster who said it shouldn't be costing you $1300 a month was completely wrong. The cost varies depending on where you live and the type of daycare, but it can be even more expensive that that. At the daycare/preschool where I have my daughter, it costs $225 a week. If I had two it would cost $1800 a month!

The most expensive daycare is going to be an institution, especially one that has a preschool program. Churches often have cheaper rates, and the Salvation Army is also cheaper. The cheapest rates are most likely to be found with private daycares in homes.

Your state should have a program that provides financial assistance to families that qualify. Contact your State's Department of Human Services - they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck!

It shouldn't be costing you $1300/month. You're not going to receive assistance financially to pay for it. You are going to have to do some hunting and find a daycare that's in your price range. Most church-run daycares will work with you.

There are state programs you can apply for aid however, it is dependant upon factors such as income, race/ethnicity, where you live, marital status and etc.

Crystal Stairs is a very popular one in CA. Though I do not believe they are nationwide as this is paid by taxpayers.

I do not understand why you are paying 1300 for daycare when at that level you can hire nannies for less than that. Why not try that?

I was paying just about what you are for my 2 kids. We decided it was time for me to stay home.
NOW, I watch children in my home. I charge $30 per child per day. I offer a 10% for families with multiple children. I did this not only for income for my family but also to help other parents in keeping the cost of child care down.

Check your local yellow pages in the blue pages. It has government agencies. You'll need to call around at first, but you can find government agencies. As long as your income is at a certain level they'll pay for it compeletely or in part.

you could afford a great nanny for that price, wow, try social services, but i would look for alternative ideas for childcare if the day care costs that much, i hope it is a great daycare

This depends on what state you live in. In Kansas you call SRS (Social Rehabilitation Services) in Texas and Oklahoma it is DHS - call your local health dept. they should be able to direct you to the right way.
