Hi my son is 4 in May and we live in Manchester UK. We live on a rough estate. I have got in a school out of the area and are looking to move house soon ,which is proving really difficult. My Partners family have lived on the estate for years and have lived the rough and ready way and i dont want my child to follow suit. H doesnt associate with anyone where we live as such, but i want to get him into doing something like, swimmng, beavers, so h's got something he enjoys now and when he is older with hope that he will lead a decent life. What activities can a four year old do?

at this age the best help you can give your son is to give him your time and attention. Trite i know but its true.
Take him for walks in the park discuss the things you see and play with talk about how things work and why. You wont find you are short of things to discuss he will come up with thousands of questions. and when you cant answer one never tell him a lie, tell him you are unsure or lets find out together.. take him to the library choose books together and read them to him
discuss the pictures the stories, the letters anything and everything. Take him to the public baths and play with him then if there is a toddler group at the baths or the local church then by all means take him.the local social services should be able to reccomend some places you can go too. But The most important thing you can give is you. i am a teacher and i have seen so many children come into my class room and you can always tell those whose parents care enough to give them their time. If you teach him he will become interested and interesting. This more than anything will encourage him to learn and hopefully his education will give him aims and objectives in his life and encourage him to achieve HIS goals and not someone elses.

Phone up your local information center and they should be able to tell what is in your area suitable for your 4 year old. There must be somethings out there for him to do. I used to take my son swimming, bike riding, playing football and down to the lakes to feed the ducks. its just something for them to do. I hope you find some thing for him to do. Good luck im glad you are thinking of your son's future unlike others. Its good to see people changing for the better

Get him into sports and keep him healthy. Athletics is always good to start, he will be great if he sticks to it. Football always goes down well if he's boyish and he will make lots of new friends. Talk to him ask him what he likes to do and that might spurr you on with ideas.
