He is 2... Just turned 2 in December. I try to put him on his potty, or the big potty- he screams and says "NO" and clings to me like he is so scared. Why?!?!?!? why would he be scared? he likes to flush, and see mommy and daddy in the bathroom- but when its his turn he runs away crying!?!?!?! what can I do to make it not scary? I have told him he gets a treat, a sticker, I'm excited, etc.... When we first got it, (potty ) he would sit and watch tv on it, and now he hates it!?!?!

My son is starting to play with his ... private area. He's almost 4. Sometimes I notice and I ignore it. But why is he doing it? It's freaking me out! I'm a single mom. I don't have a boyfriend. I don't know what to do or say to him. What do I do?

Anyone have a little one around the age of 1 yr who will only eat select finger foods? My little one will only eat cheerios and cheese chunks on his own. One meal a day he will let us feed him and we'll try and get a meat and veggie down through the Gerber 3rds. He usually doesn't want us to feed him though. Is this normal for this age? I worry of course he's not get enough nutrients through meat and veggies. He drinks his formula pretty good but not too much. He puts a lot of finger foods in his mouth- chews them up for awhile and spits them out. Odd.

he is four years old. he loves his blanket. his dad thinks it is time for him to stop using it but i don't see the problem with him having it. he doesn't take it to daycare with him or anything, he just likes to have it when he is going to bed or riding in the car. and the plus is that he'll use any of his twenty or so blankets. there isn't a certain one that he has to have. if it makes him happy and isn't hurting anyone why make him stop?

My daughter will be 2 in February and she already has a ton of toys. I would like her to receive clothes, books or movies instead of more toys. I have thought about including a list in her invitations that includes her clothing sizes and ideas for books and movies. Is this rude or okay?

This has been puzzling me for a while. My son is a very gentle tempered 2 1/2 year old boy. When he's in the room with other kids, he is usually the observer and follower. I hardly ever see him being aggresive and grab other kids toy. He would either watch them play and get very excited. Or quitely pick out his own toy and playing in the corner.
However, when other kids come and try to grab his toy, or push down the block tower he just built, he get REALLY upset. I totally understand his feeling cause he feels his territory is being invaded. I tried to comfort him that just seems to get things worse. I usually have to let him cry it out for about 5 mins and then distract him to something else.

I am actually not very sure if I am doing the right thing. If I told him, "It's ok, just go play something else." Does that make him too easy to give up what he wants? But I definitely cannot tell him that "You have to fight for your toy." What should I do or how should I teach him to deal?

My 2 yr 3 month old son is doing very well going pee pee on the potty during the day if reminded and I am convinced in public he thinks it's a fun game of see how fast prego mom can run to the potty. Anyway I have a few problems. He is sill soaking diapers at night b/c he won't sleep without a sippy cup (or two) of milk and he will not poop on the potty no matter how much I scold him for doing it in his diaper or put him on the potty with books etc.

I heard that if you just put the kids in underware and a shirt they will not like being peed on but I have all rugs in my house. UGH! Would anyone suggest pull ups at night and his potty seat in his room? and then how do I protect my floor from him peeeing every where and is he old enough to put his pull up back on when he is tired.

HELP! I have a baby on the way in August and I desperately want to have only 1 kid in diapers and the pre-school he goes to wants him potty tarined by August as well.

and she loves milk. She would drink it all day of I would let her. She eats all baby food fruits and veggie and she eats small potions of mac and cheese and other things. I am not worried about her being obese. I am happy that she is eating. I want her to eat fresh fruit and we are working on that , but at least she eats the baby food.

The other night I went to a class and my husband watched our 3 yr old daughter. When I came home she was laying on floor with her eyes closed. She was not asleep, just sort of singing a ditty with her eyes closed. I quietly approached her and leaned over her so that when she opened her eyes she'd see me. Which she did. But when she saw me, she said "Mommy! Did you come out of my eyes?" Now whenever I surprize her like this she say it, "Did you come out of my eyes?" What on Earth does she mean? She's normally very clear and understandable. I'm sure she doesn't think I came out of her eyes literally.

well I have still had no success with different foods or getting her off the bottle. I try and offer her milk in a sippy everyday and everyday she throws a tantrum. She will chug water out of it but no milk. She is still taking 3 bottles a day. One in the morning, one before naptime and one before bed, otherwise she drinks water. I am going to try to stop worrying about what she is eating.I have been trying hot dogs, chicken nuggets and a few other things everyday and she spits everything out except the few things she likes. I guess she will survive on pancakes and mac and cheese, oh and of course she is still eating baby food. I guess it will happen in time. Debbie

What Doctor's Say And What They Are Thinking

* "Welllllll, what have we here...?"
(He has no idea and is hoping you’ll give him a clue.)

* "Let me check your medical history."
(I want to see if you’ve paid your last bill before spending any more time with you.)

* "Why don’t we make another appointment later in the week."
(I’m playing golf this afternoon, and this a waste of time or I need the bucks, so I’m charging you for another office visit.)

* "We have some good news and some bad news."
(The good news is, I’m going to buy that new BMW. The bad news is, you’re going to pay for it.)

* "Let’s see how it develops."
(Maybe in a few days it will grow into something that can be cured.)

* "I’d like to have my associate look at you."
(He’s going through a messy divorce and owes me a bundle.)

* "If it doesn’t clear up in a week, give me a call."
(I don’t know what it is.

Hello,
My daughter is 4 years old, she started school in sep 06.
She is a very well behaved child. Very kind and gental, and is tolerable of other childrens bad behavior. She is friends with a child that is about 6 months older than her, this little girl is the tolal opposite to my daughter, very out spoken, and really likes to boss everyone around including her parents, who don't show any dissapline at all. she always gets her own way. At first I thought it might be good for my daughter to be her friend, because it might make her alittle more outgoing. But I am now seeing a complete change in my child, She is getting in trouble at school, and when I comfront her about her behavior she usally says that this child "told her to do it" She has also told me that she makes her do things that she dosen't want to do. I have spoken to the parents but they just said they don't like serpressed children, and of course their child is an angel. I feel that this friend is more like a bully. Help!
