i have never had my little ones in home daycare but i have a feeling that i might not have a choice because i cant find a facility that takes part-time kiddos. so, it makes me nervous because their old daycare (when they were full-time) were strict, organized, and had cameras (military daycare facility). i liked that about them. with home daycare there is more one on one care, but no cameras. also, there is no promises that there is going to be someone their age to play with and probably less organization. my question to y'all is which do you prefer and what are the pro's and con's of both. any advice/answers is appreciated! thanks and stay warm!

To me the idea of trusting someone I don't know to be unsupervised with my child scares me. There are just too many crazy people out there. I agree that there are usually different ages of children, and that concerns me because children have such different things going on developementally between infant and 3 years old. Also, who watches the kids when the grown up answers the phone, makes the lunch, goes to the bathroom, or gets sick and needs a day off. So to me I would always use a professional facility if I needed to put my children in daycare. The only way I would use an individual is if they were family.

You said you are having a hard time finding some place part time. Have you considered a preschool instead of a daycare? They seem to be more flexible about coming only certain days and dropping off later or picking up a little early. You didn't say what part time means, but this might be an option.

Good Luck.

Get a large list of providers in thier area and come up with a set of questions.

My daycare proivder does have a camera set up, its for when the kids are toddlers and she goes upstairs to make lunch, she can keep an eye on downstairs.

Also, mine happens to be an infant toddler provider, so she can only have 6 kids at a time and they are all fairly close in age.

I would call around and ask questions like what kind of licence doe they have. How many kids and what ages is their licence for and ask if they happen to have a monitor for when they are out of the room. You should be able to find a provider or two that make you feel comfortable.

i feel in a daycare center you should be very careful.my friend lost her baby in daycare because the daycare center did not tell her she was very sick.because they have so many children i don't think they can give all the kids one on one where as in a home daycare there are less kids(state laws) and not every home daycare is unorganized.some day cares have an age limit so your child will have someone their age to play with. try looking around.get referrals from friends.alto of these home daycare run like a school.(story time, learning activities, snack time, nap time etc)good luck

I even have worked in the two environments and had my daughter in a center besides as in my residing house daycare. i will fairly say that i might by no skill positioned my baby in a center lower back. there is greater eyes gazing over what is going on yet that does no longer advise something is being executed approximately it. I even have seen situations the place a instructor has ost their temper with a baby and no action grew to become into taken by skill of the director different than to cajole the baby it did no longer ensue. I even have seen companies fake impact one yet another and hence a baby grew to become into given foodstuff they don't have had. i'm no longer asserting stuff does not ensue in a house daycare. you ought to be careful the two way. Make alot of visits to places you're pondering and circulate inclusive of your intestine. do no longer inspite of the incontrovertible fact that use a daycare that may no longer state authorized. Licensing is a million greater thank you to make specific your baby is being watched out for for the reason that historic past assessments have been executed on authorized companies. The licenser could additionally drop into the daycare at every time unannounced to learn up on issues.

I take my children to a home-care provider and I couldn’t be happier.

Things I love:
-she’s flexible with which four days a week my children are there
-she keeps them even when they’re sick
-meals are included in the daily rate
-they are in a family environment for the day
-she takes them to doctor’s appointments if required
-she feeds them supper if they have evening activities planned
-she never calls in sick – either toughs it out or calls in help
-they are in a family environment where they are cared for as individuals instead of a part of a group.

Things we don’t love:
-she takes every stat holiday with pay
-she takes two weeks paid in the summer and I am required to find alternate arrangements and essentially pay double

There are two other boys my son's age at the home centre and two little boys my daughter's age. They all play with each other.

After working in a day care, I will never put my children in one. They are dirty. Toys are not disinfected once a week like they are supposed too. Teachers don't actually keep an eye on your child. Many children in my school were brought to the hospital after allergic reactions from food that teachers knew they were allergic too. Toys are not age appropriate. Teachers rather go from room to room talking to other instead of pay attention to your children. We had cameras too but that didn't stop the teachers from talking on cell phones, falling asleep, and hurting children.

I no longer work in a day care and never will. One teacher, who was also the asst. director didn't feel like changing diapers and a child had to be taking to the ER bc the diaper rash was so bad he couldn't walk. That is just the beginning of the horrible stories.

Stick to day cares that are in a person's home. They are safer, cleaner, and healthier for the child(ren).

home day care does not necessarily mean more one on one care. If you're looking into a daycare run out of someone else's home you have to be careful that they are not overwhelmed & that your child is actually interacted with and stimulated rather than just "cared for" by providing basics such as food & clean diapers.

my children have also been in a home setting daycare. right now my son is with a little old lady in her house. there is one other child that is about his age to play with and then the other children are much older. i think it helps him to learn better social skills to play with children who are older. we love his babysitter and we call her grandma Doris. there is no way that he would be able to get the type of care that get receives now from a facility.

i prefer home care better, a nannyn that also has a child. they are far less exspensive and give your child a friend to play with.
