Check with the guidlines for your state ( assuming you live in the U.S.A) . For most states they must be 4 and 40 pounds to move to the booster that uses only the cars seat belt and doesn't have a built in harness. If you can i would buy a seat that will later covert to a booster. That way you get a new seat that will have the LATCH system assuming that your car also has the LATCH system. He won't be able to unbuckle this and if he unbuckles the harness part stop the car and buckle him back in.

Get a high back booster which can also be used with a 5 point harness up to 65lbs. I'm about to get a Graco Nautilus for my daughter (she's nearly 4) because I want to keep her in a 5 point harness for as long as possible. Although he may be big enough for the booster he is not ready to use a seat belt. If he plays with it while you are driving or falls asleep he will not be protected. When he gets older you can remove the harness and use it as a high back booster and then as a regular booster. So its the last seat you should ever need to buy!

No, not really. If he unbuckles, stop the car and sit there until he is ready to be buckled. This is a time when you really have to assert yourself, and even get ugly if necessary. There is a time for reasoning, though not many with a 2 year old, but this is not one of them. If he unbuckles his carseat then put duct tape over the part he is unbuckling. That or leave him at home.

i would say no. if he is able to unbuckle the the buckle what makes you think he wont be able to unbuckle the booster? my son was 36 pd and 3 ft tall and i kept him in a regular car seat. take off his coat and make sure the chest buckle is tight enough,u should just be able to fit 2 fingers underneath. you can try to put the car seat in with the snap to the seat belt backwards so he cant unfasten it. talk to your dr. but my opinion is no.

My booster is from 30 to 80 pounds. It does not matter how old your son is. If your son weighs enough and is tall enough for the booster seat's weight/height, then it is okay.
You need to find a booster that accommodates your son's weight and height.
My daughter is 5 years old and weighs 36 pounds (very petite). If I waited until she was 40 pounds, she would never be able to sit in a booster.
However, he does like to unbuckle his belt. Maybe he would unbuckle it if he was in the booster. You should use your own judgment.

I wouldn't do it. You'll have to get a larger car seat. You can't put a child in a booster until they are four years old and 40 pounds. It's not safe.

Too young for a booster seat. Find a better carseat that he can't get out of. It is not safe to have him in a booster seat.

I dont think that you can move him into a booster seat but check with the local DPS office they can give you the rules and regulation for your state

Seriously, the easiest and safest thing to do is go to your sheriffs station, they are the ones you go to with car seat issues, at least here in Burbank California that is :)

I put my son in one at two. They have weight limits on them look and see if you can find one starting at 35 pounds. Mine started at 40lbs. Good luck!
