My 2 year old is holding her poo in. We started potty training a month or two ago and when she wouldn't go, we immediately stopped. Since then, she's held most of it in. She is a huge eater so when she poos about the size of a ping pong once a day we've become quite concerned. She'll clench her buttocks together. We've tried all the food tips (apple juice, fruits, prune juice) and that hasn't helped. We gave her a suppository and she let all of it out but she's holding it in again. We tried the suppository again and nothing this time. What can we do? Is there a reason as to why she is doing this?

She must be associating pooing with pain. The most common way of dealing with this is to use a stool softener, not enogh to give her the trots but enough to make the poo very soft and harder to hold back. Ask your pharmacist for a natural stool softener or discuss it with your doctor. This is something that if not nipped in the bud can become a serious problem.

Go to your GP as soon as possible to get something to sort this out (a stool softener) the longer she holds it the worse the problem will get, it could end up very serious and could gone on for years. My daughter did exactly the same and my GP did not take the problem seriously. It wasn't resolved until she was 6 four years later.

If it hurts her to poop finally after holding it so long, she's holding it back because she associates pooping with pain.
My sister had to use doctor-perscribed suppositories for several months on my neice...get this checked asap.
