Do I do too much in babysitting?

Question

I'm a temperary babysitter, babysit 3 or 4 days a week and 12 hours per day.
I charge only $1 per kid per hour. (There are reasons to charge low)
4 y-o boy and 3 y-o and 16 month baby girl. So it's $33 a day:
Things I do are :
1.cook breakfast
2. cook lunch (And watch their diet)
3.change dipers (include the 3-y-o girl, she has potty problem)
4. hand wash dishes (they don't have dish-washer)
5. disipline them and stop them fight
6. pick up toys, keep house clean
7. teach them drawing (art) or play games
8. cartoon time
9. Bath them BF their parents home

My questions are:
(1) Do I try do too much according to my pay and hours...?
(2) If you were in my shoes, what would you do...?
(3) Can you stand 12 hours babysitting?
I just try to not to hate this job...(even it's just 2 month....)

Yes, some answers are right. The parent may make little money (but who really knows?) And if I don't do those things I feel time go slow...

If you didn't do those things you do, then the day would probably go even slower. Keeping busy helps the day go by quicker. I'm in a different country & doesn't sound underpaid. If you worked here, then you would know what underpaid is.
If you get paid more will you like it better? You should stop if you hate the job.

What you are doing sounds great, but you are charging very little. Apparently both parents work, and I think they could be paying you at least double what you are charging. Even taking care of the Elderly in their own homes, doing pretty much the samething you are, I got paid over $5 an hour, for one person, at that was over 12 years ago.

Their parents must be RN's. I can tell by the shifts they work. I'm a nurse too and it is sooo hard to keep a babysitter for those 12 hour shifts. You don't know how many babysitters I've been through. I would give my sitter $60 a day. And most of them ended up leaving cause they said it wasn't enough. One of them wanted a $100 per day!! I got upset with her and told her I didn't need her anymore cause I felt like she was ripping me off.

Well...
Cooking and feeding, changing diapers, disiplining and breaking up fights, drawing and lpaying games and letting them watch tv are what babysitting is all about really.
And you make about as much as I do, and I am a full time nanny. (Which is ALOT of work.)

You say there are reasons to charge low... but what are these reasons?

If I was in your shoes, disliking the job, I would quit.
But I love kids so much that I would love that job.

Great job! You do alot for these children and their parents. probably should be paid more. You are practically their mother! All that isn't really worth $33 a day. I babysit this girl alot and I can stand it by the way her parents pay me! If I was in your shoes I'd show their parents that list and ask for a small raise. Remeber, this is awesome training for when you become a mother yourself. :-)

No seriously, I looked at your other questions and you really seem to have issues with what you are doing and what you are getting paid to do it. I am curious to know what the reasons are to only charge as little as you are.

I suggest that you sit down with the parent(s) and talk about it. Ask for at least a little more money or a lot less responsibilty.

Holy cow yes...you are doing WAY too much for only 36 dollars a day. Sheesh...you might as well be their mom and them be the babysitter! The only thing they are doing is being in the house while they are sleeping. They need to pay you more..or take on more responsibilities of their own and let you leave earlier. That is slave wages for doing their job!!

Oh my lord I've never heard of such cheap labor. Why in the world don't you charge more? Babysitting a child is a major responsablity and a lot of patience. Hopefully they are paying for the food, diapers and toys.

yes, i think that's a little too much unless
if the parents are close friends. and/or
the reason they are paying so low and need so much babysitting is that they have a very low income, and in the next two months they are trying to get a better job
if it's too much for you (it is- you still need a little time for yourself) split the hours and pay with a friend
