My little girl did it at 17 months. Well about 5 days prior to 17 mo. But we worked on it alot and when she was 13 mo old she had a vocabulary of 52 words. She is now 26 mo old and talks/acts like a 3 or 4 yr old. I dont know if that is early though for ABCs. And she does still say almo for lmno when she sings it but can recite them individually correctly.

I always sing the ABCs when I change diapers and when we have to wait in line etc (I sing terribly but I don't care what the other customers think of me, the kids are not screaming and the wait isn't as long). My older son started to sing along when he was 9months old. He is incredibly verbal. His younger brother finall started to sing along around 15months. He likes to express himself more through movement though. What matters is whether the child is enjoying it or whether there is pressure to perform. If it is just a song, then the recognition of the meaning can come in a fun and relaxed way.
