My daughter has a "mildew" type smell in her ears. Mostly her right ear. She doesn't act like it bothers her, and it's smelled like that for a while. She doesn't have a doctors appt until March, but I want to know what's going on NOW! I don't know what ears are suppose to smell like, cause I can't smell mine. Please help.

You should go ahead and call the doctor. It might be some sort of fungal infection. Every doctor's office will talk to you about a health issue to determine if you need a sick visit. By March it could be really bad and more difficult to treat, not to mention painful. Plus, little kids don't always complain about things that hurt or irritate them.

Call the doctor and tell them you need to be seen right away. If they won't take you then find a new doctor. It could be an infection and it could cause permanent damage if not taken care of. Most infections go away, but this sounds like it might be more. Any decent doc will see you and respect your concerns. If yours doesn't then find one who does.

I have heard of this when I did my Child care course. Take her to the Dr and get her ear checked, she may have pushed food in her ear or material or something and it is now rotting. Apparently its quite common for children to do this.
My daughter shoved those tiny bean bag balls up her nose and I had to take her to the hospital to get them removed as I couldnt.
So yeah take her to the Dr and get it checked, kids ears shouldnt smell.

It could be an ear infection. By the way, there are ear wax cleaners. You shouldn't use a Q-Tip as it could damage the baby's ear drum.

oh my godness hunny, you've got to take her to the doctor. i used to get ear infections all the time when i was little and i am strict on cleaning my 3 yr old ears every other day and most definately after a bath to get them dry, i use a q-tip but mostly he does it himslef "to help me out" plus he knows not to push too hard because it hurts if ya go too deep and could effect the ear drum, i figure he can feel it better than i can see it ;), but stinky ears is not a good sign :) alcohol astringint is for grown ups, try to put a little hydrogen peroxide in her ear, that will help fight infection- peroxide is safe to gargle with and it is safe to put in ears :)

maybe you should try cleaning her ear regularly. ask your doctor if it is okay to put a little alcohol on the tip of the q-tip to get rid of the smell.

could be an ear infection, if your child has a high pain tolerance, she may not cry. So its better to get it checked out rather than have it rupture.
