I cant even begin to describe their tantrums they have them on a daily basis and usually include the following they punch themselves pull their hair out and i mean by the handfulls claw at their skin smash their heads against anything nearby and even make themselves bleed no - one can stop it when it happens and sometimes they go on for up to an hour with the screaming and self mutilation i don't know what else to do i am wondering if there is somewhere i can go to get practical hep and guidance

My boy of 22 months is not close to me at all. Sonetimes when he does somthing wrong like hiding under a table... I tried to talk to him first but when he doen't listen, I am usually the one who will discipline him. He then will walk away and doesn't want me to touch or hug him. I tried explaining things to him but he sort of understand what I say but he purposely don't want to listen to me. Would he resent me and hate me for scolding him? I tried spending quality time with him despite my work. What should I do so that he knows that I am doing things against him. Please advise...

I have a year old son, he was the most adorable food baby and my first but since the age of 3 he has absolutely changed, he has a tendency to answer back, never listen to waht Iask him to do, scream when I take him shopping, run off in the mall, throw tantrums if he does not get his own way (which is mighty embarassing in public), he never talks to his teachers, is agressive with his toys, tells me and his dad "you are not my mummy, you are not my daddy", never says thank you. I n a few words I can not control him anymore, does he need a specialist.
Above all in the flat he scream sso loud teh neighbour has called the social services, so Icannot even lightly smack him on his back side, because he tells people I hit him.
All of this is destroying my relationship with my partner, help.

I remember kissing my Dad's sandpaper face, cooking my first egg, popping fushia flowers, and my dog sacking the neighbors dog when it tried to bit me, but the earliest was in a highchair drinking milk, and dropping the glass on the floor.

My son's three, and he says at times that his stepbrother - they go the same daycare, and are together four nights a week - hits him. I know this kid, he's a brat to be honest; and my son's much stronger and kinder than he is, so I'm not concerned. I know they are always well supervised.

Thing is, once when my son mentioned this (it's mostly to check the reaction he gets from me) once I said impatiently, "Hit him back and then go tell Daddy or the carers".

I was tired, and I know it was a silly thing to say.

BUT, I also want him to stand up for himself. I can't have my son allowing others to hit him. What do you teach your children about this, in terms of self-defence?

Yes, we all know that violence is wrong and I've never even smacked my son, we don't watch any tv, we are anti-violence - but at the same time, I don't want him to be the sweet kid who never hits back when he's picked on. You know what I mean?

Is there a balance? What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

My son is going to be 3 in March and although I've tried to encourage him to use the potty he wants nothing to do with it. I'll keep his diaper off and he'll just pee on the floor, almost like he doesn't realize he was going. When I sit him on the toilet or try to get him to sit on his potty chair he'll sit there a few seconds and then beg to get down. I don't want to pressure him too much, I've heard it causes psychological problems, but so does waiting too long. Any suggestions or advice?

My 5 year old does not behave at all. I am constantly getting onto her. She thinks she can do what she wants, when she wants.
I have tried time out, I have tried a pop on the rear, tried bribes, taken things she likes away. I just am out of things to try with her because nothing is working. Any suggestions?

but, I've only just thought of something... how do we handle the sleeping arrangements? I usually leave my bedroom door cracked so T-Bone can come and go as he pleases, sometimes he sleeps with me, sometimes in the chair in the living room... but what if they *both* want to sleep with me, I'm not sure there's enough room in the bed...

some will remember from a previous question, Jayde has been an outdoor dog for the past 4 months... first things first, she walks in the door and gets a BATH!

I have a one year old nephew who is showing disturbing behavior. He hits, screams, bites, slaps, puts his hands over his ears, and throws his poop when you try to change him. I am worried that this behavior is abnormal esp. for someone his age.

My 5 year old just came down with the stomach flu on Sat. morning and had just a bit of runny poops and then vomited a little the first time and then enough for a 5 year old the second time. The next day he had a couple (small runny poops) and did not want to eat. The next day (mon.) he had one runny poop (small) around 5 pm and then woke up today wanting to eat. He ate two kelloggs waffles and then had some fries later on. He just now had two runny poops and the last one was awful. Does anyone think I should try a pepto bismo for him or would that make it worse? Yesterday and today he has been running around like he is back to normal. Could it be food poisoning? I would take him in to see the doctor, but I don't want to drag him in if it is a waste of time and they say it is just a virus and let it run it's course. I hate to see him like this. Any thoughts or if someone might have had this experience already with their child, any help would be appreciative! Never any fevers

He lines up EVERYTHING...spoons, cars, magnets, tater tots, french fries, DVD's. Whatever he has he puts it in a line. Is this normal. He can talk a little and is very loving and affectionate, but this is strange to me?

The past week, he has been having LOTS of accidents and just had his fourth one today. How should I handle this? I usually tell him, accidents happen and act like it is no big deal, but c'mon, 4 times in one day is a bit much! i'm at my wits end parents - HELP!
