Probably between 3-4 dollars. It depends on how old you are, How many children you will be watching, how old the child(ren) are, etc.

If I had kids I would probably pay about $5 an hour.

Wow! It is weird to see how little the rates have changed since I last babysat. In high school, my rate was between 4 and 9 bucks an hour depending on the family. I made around 10 an hour when I did it in college and I had a roommate who made way more than that. I was a nanny for a little over a year after college and I made 11.50 an hour. I suppose if I was to babysit again, I would ask for around ten, but I am older now.

I think it depends on where you live.
My nieces get about $5-$10/hour with an additional $2 per child.
My nieces are 15 & 17 and have successfully completed a babysitting course through the Red Cross or a local hospital (can't remember which). They are also the two eldest of five kids so have experience with the little ones.

It definately depends on where you live. I live in New Jersey, and I think for my 1 year old daughter I'd pay around $6 an hour.

When I was younger and I babysat (about 10 years ago) I usually got about $4 an hour, but of course the cost of living here has gone up significantly since then.

My usual asking price is about $5 if it's a child that's about eight-ten. Anything under that is $6, if there are multiple children, it really depends on the kids and the parent's financial situation. For instance, I live in a richish neighborhood, so even though this one pair of kids are GREAT, when I told them my usual price was $6 (the kids are seriously like tiny little angels), they said "well, we usually pay $10." I wasn't going to argue with that.
