NO DEAR, NOTHING IS WRONG WITH HIM. THIS IS TYPICAL BEHAVIOR FOR A TODDLER. HOPEFULLY YOU INTRODUCED BABY FOOD TO HIM WHEN HE WAS ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS, AND HE SHOULD STILL BE HAVING BOTH. THE DIFFICULTY WITH BREASTFEEDING IS REGULATING THE AMOUNT. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS OFFER HIM THE SPOON FOOD FIRST, THEN THE BREAST. IF HE REFUSES THE SPOON, DON'T GIVE HIM THE BREAST. AT THE NEXT FEEDING HE SHOULD BE HUNGRY ENOUGH TO EAT ANYTHING YOU OFFER HIM. IF NOT, SKIP IT AGAIN. DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL NOT STARVE HIM TO DEATH UNLESS IT GOES ON FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS. GOOD LUCK!

could he be just comfort sucking? children will not normally starve themselves. decrease his feeds and set mealtimes for everyone in household. turn off all distractions and sit at table. give him small portions at first and make a fuss even when he eats only a mouthful. put food into small containers and say he now has to have 3 spoons from that container and 6 from that, etc... remember to praise him. set an allocated time for the meal, so that you are not sitting at the table for hours. when mealtimes are over just remove plates and if the child has not eaten enough don't go on about it! just calmly remove plates. do not give him anything to eat in terms of junk food, etc.. he can now have a glass of cows full fat milk. give him fruit cut up into bite size pieces. if he is not interested just take them away. but remember not to feed him until the his next mealtime, your child will learn to eat at mealtimes because he will understand that he will not get anything during... sounds a bit harsh but it works and like i said a child will not starve him/herself.
you could also have a star sheet and have a treat at the weekend if he has received the necessary stars for a treat.
good luck.

It's actually recommended that children drink breat milk until thery're around 3/4 yrs old, so there's nothing wrong with this.
Chidlren often struggle with the change to 'normal' foods. Get him when he's hungry and offer a plain food- baby rice or mashed bananas are usually well accepted as first foods, or purreed pears. Keep offering it to him before every meal, children often need to become familliar with a new food before they want to eat it. The most important thing to remember is not to make a fuss about it, try not to get stressed, he'll pick up on this and food will become and issue before he's even weaned which can set him up with lifelong habits. It's natural to be worried, but he is fine at the moment. Also show him you eating it yourself and make a big act about how yummy baby rice is- children like to copy their parents and he will be intrigued about what makes you so happy. Please don't worry, but if you are concerned see your doctor who will give you more advice.

One year and breast feeding. Wow! Try to get him off coz it's not too much in you for him any more. I have similar problem with my little one (without breast feeding. I am not as good as you and kept that for 6 months). it was a period when I was killing myself with lots of plates during the day. I have no idea how he survived. Couple of months of that and he is with normal grown up food. Still he has times when he doesn't eat much but i will never try feed him again with restaurant variety.

Now is a good time to start taking your boob away from him. Because if he is not eating any food over breast milk he is to attached. Its good that he is taking in something but if you don't do something soon. He might be five years old still wanting your boob.

Will he eat baby food? Or is he just not eating people food? My son is 13 months old, and he's just starting to like more people food...but we've been giving him baby food to give him all the different nutrients and variety of foods he needs.

No, there is nothing wrong. Breast feeding can go on far longer than this. It has plenty of nutrients in it. Does he seem to be thriving or not?
Of course, nobody in their right mind would trust the health of their infant to the opinions of people on here! So if you have worries see a doctor or a nurse

it could be useful to let your child help cook the food and then when putting it on a plate, turn it into a funny face or a picture of a car or something. also, if you try to hard to try an get them to eat proper food, that could also stop them or put them offeating the food

Nope. Just sounds like he's not ready for food yet. Just keep offering it to him and he'll eventually try some. If it bothers you, talk to your doctor. Most people stop breastfeeding by 18 months. So keep offering him choices. Your breastmilk as just as healthy for him at 12 months as it was at 1 month.
