I always raise the head end of my babies cot mattress when they sleep as this helps to keep the nose clear so they can sleep. Give him lots of hugs, and use calpol to keep any fever down.

I assume you have a very young child

1) Make sure it is just a cold, that just means ask some older friends or neighbours who have experience. If you are unsure or if the child feels warm see a doctor.

2) If it is a cold ....get used to it, catching colds is just how our bodies defense system works. Its not a failijng on you side. We catch a cold our body learns to recognise the organism and protects us better in future.

The zinc released in making chicken soup (from a chicken not a packet) is good when you have a cold. You could also try giving you child kids multivitamins.

tyxilix cough and colds is brilliant for toddlers! makes them drowsey, and they get a good nights sleep (you do too). also you can use it at the same time as calpol! ask your pharmasist, as you can only buy it over the counter! if your child is really ill with it, or it doesnt clear within a week, take them to the doctor to make sure its not an infection that requires antibiotics! hope he/she is better soon!

you dont say how old your child is, but if they are not eating as much, and are struggling drinking their milk out of a bottle, their is a salt solution you can but in the chemist, you squirt it up there nose, (droplets i should say), its clears the nose out temporaily, and with mine, they start sneezing, so that helps to, it doesnt cost very much, and is does a really good job, the solution can be used from birth and is fine for all ages, good luck

I usually give my little boy a warm bath. I put chest rub on his back chest and soles of his feet before wrapping him up in his pjs. Calpol is always good if they have a temperature. Just make sure he/she drinks plenty of fluids. It is always hard, you tend to fret about everything. :0)
