Has the doctor given you updates?

If the doctor isn't worried, there's nothing you should be worried about. Every child grows at a different pace.

Basically--check with your doctor.

Size and weight should be proportionate. If your daughter eats well, has a lot of energy and does not appear bony, and taking a good vitamin she's probably just little. If you've taken her for her inoculations, the nurse or doc would have said something if they felt she was underweight. My daughter is almost 4, she's 36 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. She's tiny, but her body is proportionate, she is healthy and her doctor is not concerned at all. She is just little, and will probably not make it to 5 feet as an adult. Don't worry about her as long as she is healthy and is getting all the nutrients she needs. If you start seeing signs that something is different than the norm, take her to her doc.

My 17 month old son weighs 20 lbs and is 30 inches tall, and my doctor told me not to worry, that he's a peanut because we aren't all that tall and because he was breastfed until 1 and has learned not too overeat. I, too, was worried because eight month old babies are the same size as he is! But my doctor (who is the most awesome man alive) told me that babies today are HUGE and as long as my baby is growing at a steady rate then he's perfectly healthy. I am not a small girl (I'm short but about 20lbs overweight and my husband is 6 feet and normal) so I don't think smallness runs in our family. But the doctor says not to worry, that 20lbs and 30 inches aren't underweight or too short. I think my son and your daughter are on the 5th percentile on weight and 8th percentile height.

if your worried talk to your doc. he should of told you if she was normal weight or not at her check up. i have a 17 month old also and i thought he was over weight weighing 25#. but the doc said he was good to go. are you or the mother thin and tall? if so she is probably taking after either of you or someone in the family. but i dont think anything is wrong with her weight. shell even out.

My six month old son weighs nineteen pds and is 28 inches long. Hes in the 90 percentile for his age but I would think at 17 months she would be bigger.

your doctor should tell you, A baby who is 20 Ibs should be 1 yr old age. I believe she is good for her height, but the weight makes me unsure. My niece is 4 yrs old and My 2 yr old weighs 30 Ibs and she weight 30 Ibs also, but fits a 2t and my son wears a 3t. Girls are different

You should be having well baby checkups on a schedule with a doctor. If you aren't because of money, etc. see your local health department/WIC office. You can get free checkups and information as well as free food to have a nutritious diet for your baby.

Best Wishes,

Sue

your well child visits to the doctor will let you know. My daughter is the same age and size and is only in the 5th percentile. BUT because she has gained and grown taller at a regular pace she's concidered healthy.

i would not hassle in any respect! She sounds purely like my buddies daughter (who's now 2 a million/2, 39", 38lbs, wears a length 4T, and fully healthful). as long as her weight and height growth are consistent, her scientific expert heavily isn't stressful.
