He can eat all the solid food he wants and keep it down. But liquids do not stay down.

My son is approaching 2 1/2 and has said many words once but will not use them again. He has a few words he uses regularly and they are all pronounced very well. My interpretation of the situation is that I, like my mother, have a tendency to talk to children as if they were adults. I talked late but very like a little adult. I would think that that was the problem except he is older than I was and still not talking and he has a tendency to ignore speech directed at him (yes he can hear just fine) when he's engrossed in some activity. I suspect that he understands alot of what is said to him but it is as if he is trying to not show that he understands. I'm afraid I'm making excuses for him to myself but sometimes he forgets and repeats a word or does something when asked the first time. He has a memory like you wouldn't beleive and will go straight to a button that fascinated him at grandma's 6 months ago. Does this sound like any children you know and how did it come out?

I was wondering...How do I attempt to prepare my 18 month old son for a little sister (Who could come at any moment, I am 38 wks).. He's laid his head on my tummy, And I've told him 'Baby is in there' but I don't think he quite grasps it yet, He's also noticed another crib in his room, And has watched us fold and re-fold her clothes and what not, But I was wondering if maybe someone had some cute ideas to maybe help him further understand...Also - was wondering...

I have an 8 year old boy, and an 18 month old boy, I was wondering what a cute 'gift' from the new baby would be for the both of them! :-)

Thanks bunches in advance!!!

I have a 23 month old baby girl. she has a normal diet and is active too but she is underweight that is she is only 9.6 Kg and her height is 81 cm this is being going on for last 4 months. Doctors says to give her good diet but she is already on a good diet. Besides this she thumb sucks a lot? Whats the reason of her so low weight. Is the reason that most of the times she has to play alone because of no other kids in the house.
I give her egg daily in breakfast and Pedia sure too. Please give a good reply.

My wife is a stay-at-home-mom during the day. She works occasional nights and weekends. I work M-F 9-5. My 3-1/2 year old son prefers my company when I am home over my wifes. That in itself isn't really a problem. The problem is how he shows it. He is mean to her by saying things to her like "you can't play with us" or "you can't have any of this," "only dad can". He also doesn't want to participate in things that my wife wants to do with him. For trick-or-treating last night, he didn't want to go (with mom), just because I had to stay home and give out candy. He wanted to go with me. This has been going on for 6 or more months. A) Is this normal? B) What can/should we do to correct this behavior? Should we force him to do things with his mom he doesn't want to do? etc. Thanks!

I was wondering what other parents use to spank their children with?

For me, I use a "rod", which right now is a 15in PVC pipe that has about a 1/2inch diameter. I want to use this, because my children can't ever relate anything other than disciple to the rod. If I used a belt, that could be negatively related to my husband, since he wears one. I don't use my hands, those are for loving, not for spanking. I don't use wooden spoons or other kitchen items, since someday I want to teach them to cook!

Any other parents have ideas along these lines?

My sister has a 10 yr old son and a 21 mnth old girl. The girl goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 7am. She wants to have time out with husband and was wondering if it would be wrong to put the baby to bed and have the 10yr old listen for the baby. If something went wrong the son could call her. She says she trusts her son to do nothing else but watch TV/ gameboy. And the baby can't get hurt in the crib. What do you think I should advise her to do. Without being condisending.

i've noticed that the past 2 months , my little girl of 3 years old, is doing the letter (A) up side down. she use to do it the right way, but now she does it upside down. she also reads a number from the right side to the left. i dont have a family history of dislexia.
am i just too concern or is this early signs?
