At Thanksgiving, my family was coming up to my kids and telling them how big they've gotten and just talking to them. My daughter, who is 15 months old, was growling at them when they would tell her how cute she is or that she looked like her daddy or anything they said. Then today we all met at my neighbor's house for some leftover turkey gumbo party thing, and she growled at all our neighbors. We now get that she's shy and unfriendly, but why growl? I know it's better than hitting them or something, but I would expect that before her growling like a dog. What's up with that?

She's just a baby, but my three year-old and I were shopping in a department store when she pointed at a lady who was browsing the isles in front of us. She said "look at her." Oblivious to what was initially going through her head, I thought she was pointing at a music CD on the shelf. I said "yes, I see, the CD." She said, no, her, I peered through the line of site from her tiny little fingers to the back of this lady's head. I said "You know we don't point at people." My baby said, no, her, she's fat." I was mortified and almost cried. I know the lady heard my daughter, too, because she turned her head slightly as though she were about to say something, but when she saw my embarrassment, she walked off. I have always taught my daughter proper manners and I always seem to know what to say, in most every situation, but I was totally at a loss for words.

What would you do if you were the stranger/what would you do if you were in my shoes?

She developed a cough about a week after we moved into a new house and it's been since August. She is 15 months old. It gets better and then worse but it has never completly gone away. We don't have insurance and can't afford to take her to the doctor. I think it is just allergies, the previous owners didn't take care of the carpet and had a dog and cat. There has also been a little mold found. Could it just be allergies? We will be moving soon because of this. How long before it gets out of her system, when we move? I want to take her to the doctor but I don't really know if it's necessary since we will be getting out of this enviornment within the next week. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

My 2 and a half year old son used to be a text book baby, very easy to feed, sleep 14 hours a night, really calm and happy, lately he wakes up 2 or 3 times a night, wailing and crying out. He bangs the side of his cot with a juice bottle. I really dont know what to do, apparently kids do grow out of this. I go in and keep really calm, straighten his cot out and give him a drink, tuck him in with his teddies, has anyone else had this problem, is there light at the end of the tunnel?? any advice? thank you

She really hates it. I bought the softest, littlest toothbrush I could find. I wont use my fingers (she'll bite me). But she likes the flavor of the toothpaste (flouride free).

Any sugestions on how to make it fun or at least easier?

It's for a 2nd grade class. I doesn't have to involve blueberries themselves, it just has to have a blueberry theme. Someone told me blueberry juice and milk make a paint...is this true? Any ideas would be great! My mind is completely blank on this one!

He doesn't have much sweets and no caffeine and he gets even more hyper, especially when it is close to bedtime. He sleeps at around 9:00 and sleeps for 12 hours. When do you put your child to bed and how do you deal with their hyperness?
BTW, we wind him down before bed, but it's hard to dos o with him being so hyper. He's also lost interest in books, he used to look at books for an hour before bedtime.

My cousing is involved with a woman who has a 10 month old. The mother doesn't really want to hassle with her baby, so she lets the little girl stay up until 3 AM and sleeps in until 10-11AM. I know I'm not supposed to butt in and tell them how to parent, but how can I explain that her child needs a sleep and feeding routine without hurting her feelings?

Looking at it from my son's point of view, I must seem to disappear when he goes to his dad's house. I don't want there to be too many gaps in his conceptualisation so I'm going to take him in so he can see where I work. Have you done this? If not I think it's a good idea.
