My cousing is involved with a woman who has a 10 month old. The mother doesn't really want to hassle with her baby, so she lets the little girl stay up until 3 AM and sleeps in until 10-11AM. I know I'm not supposed to butt in and tell them how to parent, but how can I explain that her child needs a sleep and feeding routine without hurting her feelings?

well that is a tough one...does she not like it when people make suggestions regarding her child? Does she ever complain about her child's sleep pattern? If she does, suggest something to her then...Good luck

Probably won't do a bit of good. She lets her stay up so she can sleep in too. Lazy, young parents that don't realize that they will pay later for the lack of routine now. When this child has to go to school she will be very unruly and this child will probably be classified as having ADHD or something because she has never known routine and disipline. There is no good way. Maybe ask...What are you going to do in a few years when the baby has to get up and go to school? Start it that way. I bet your answer will not be a positive one. There is really nothing you can do. Maybe tell your cousin he could start the process, ask her to put the child down at night and then someone will have to get up too. good luck.

its going to be very hard not to hurt this woman's feelings ....you might try to just tell her when shes alone and try telling her that the baby looks really sleepy and that she needs sleep to grow if she gets mad well maybe she should be a better mother but at least it will give her a heads up on how she should be parenting her child ..........good luck

it'll change once the child becomes a toddler and is unbearable to have around til 3 am. Stay out of it.

That's really not your place seeing as how it's not your child.
