13 months is okay for not walking. It will come. Just encourage her, but don't force. Sometimes, when an infant is in a walker a lot, they don't need to try. Find quiet times to get on the floor with her and encourage her by making a fun time of it. This is the age where they really start exploring and trying things.

I know my son didn't walk until he was well over 2 years. He would pull himself up on things, but he could move faster by "swimming"...he really didn't actually crawl on all fours either.

If you are concerned that there may be a problem...ck with your Dr.

Children develop differently. My oldest never crawled he did more of a fish flop, using his arms but not his legs or knees, then at 14 months took off running while my youngest crawled everywhere and started walking around a year. As long as babys developing normally otherwise I would not worry. You can help her but holding her up by her hands or finding a well made walker for her to be in. Good Luck

Dont worry about that. My first 2 sons started walking a few days after their birthday and my 3rd son didnt start walking until he was 15 months. Every baby is different. You just have to keep working with her for a little bit every day and she will get it when she is ready. Its not anything to be concerned about unless the baby is over 18 months old.

It took my nephew a long time to start walking and we were really concerned. Some kids just are not as eager to start running around as others. We had a doctor check him out to make sure he was healthy and once he said everything was fine we bought him some toys that encouraged movement. Fisher Price and PlaySkool have excellent toys that children must stand up and push to play with. It got my nephew up and used to being on his feet and now he is running around (a little more than we would like). I wish you the best!

Neither of my two kids started walking until they were 18 months old. I had been afraid I would have to carry them the rest of my life.

Check with your baby's doctor to make sure there are no physical or mental problems. Does she seem normal otherwise? Hold her hands and walk around a little bit with her. Buy or borrow one of those bouncy chairs to strength her legs.

I learned that babies do things when they are ready. Moms can't force them to do things until that point is reached. My babies didn't start getting teeth until they were each a year old, but learned to read before they were 2 years old. Today they walk just fine, have all their teeth, and read very well. Be patient!! It will happen.

You can't "make" her walk but you can help. Hold her hands and pull her to her feet. Allow her feet to touch the ground. Let her try to put weight on her legs(still holding her of course). You didn't mention if she was pulling up or rolling. Perhaps she's just not interested yet. If you don't see progress or are still concerned, talk to her dr. She should have had or soon will be having a one year check up. The dr. can check her to ensure that everything is fine. While 13 mths is not behind, just know that most children can trail in one area and be completly fine. All children follow their own schedule. Not yours. Mine was behind in talking but ahead or on schedule in other areas. She is now 3 and just fine. If you are really worried though please talk to your dr. It can ease your fears or catch a problem early.

If there are no medical reasons for your daughter to not be walking, then don't worry. She will when she's ready.

Do you spend alot of time with her to be giving her alot of encouragement? My second son, out of 4, didn't walk tell he was 14 months. I didn't have the time to spend with him and my babysitters at the time were worthless, so I think that was why he was slow. I didn't have to be working with my other 3 and they walked at 8 to 9 months.

Just work with her and have patience.

My 13 month old is not walking on his own yet either. He is holding onto furniture and taking 1-2 steps at a time, then falling. I am not concerned about it, and you shouldn't be either, it is normal up to 18 months, as everyone else had already said. For practice we hold him up and walk him, and just standing on his own helps with his balance.

Not walking at 13 mos is not yet a concern, Encourage Muscle development by encouraging her to stand and cruise furniture, if you us an excersaucer or walker often, cut down on the amount of time she uses it ( These actually hinder walking), If she is not walking by 18months talk to your Dr and conact your counties Early Intervention program, It is free!!!

I wouldn't be concerned that she's not walking yet, but I would be concerned if she never crawled for at least a little while. My son started walking about a week after his 1st birthday. If she doesn't reach the milestone in the next month I would concult your pediatritian.
