My 4 year old had a mild case of impetigo last month. She had about 12 spots on her back, hips and legs. Can she get this again or is she 'immune' from it now? I was trying to find this out online. I assume she got it from preschool that she attends, but I asked and the teachers said they hadn't heard of any other child there that had it. Any help is appreciated.

As soon as Wal-Mart decorated for Halloween we would go back there and look at decorations and such. I think when it hit was when they put this big dracula looking thing above the entrance to Lawn & Garden where all the Halloween stuff was when my daughter started to get scared.

We can not even take her anywhere to look at costumes for Halloween, not even the toy section at Wal-Mart where there are pretty princess outfits. I can not even walk into the store Wal-Mart now without her screaming, she associates Wal-Mart with Halloween.

My mother has this cute little Halloween man on her front porch, not scary at all, totally cute. My daughter will not even walk up the sidewalk they have, we have to carry her because she starts screaming.

Can anyone help or have the same situation?
We obviously are not going trick or treating this year :)

My daughter is two years old and can say things like da da, ma ma, all done, thank you, what's that, pee pee, etc. When did your child make the jump and finally start being able to talk to you where you and any one else could understand?

We read to her, talk to her, all the things we should be doing I am just worried she is not where she should be...please help.

My 2yr old son speaks very well. He has a good vocabulary and speaks in some complete sentences. He never had any stutter or indication of one. Suddenly, basically overnight, he has began stuttering. He'll repeat the first word of the sentence about 10 times before continuing with the entire sentence. Anyone have a similar experience and advice?

Sunday Morning we turn our back for 2 seconds and he got into our desk drawer and put some household staples in his mouth, he immeadtly threw up one of them, but I could tell he was havin a hard time swallowing whatever was left. We took him to the Hospital and they did an x-ray and said "Yes there is ONE in there and he should pass it within 72 hrs" well, we got a copy of the x-ray and it looks lke more than one staple. It looks like it is 4-5 of them stuck together in a row, like how they come, I could see how they ER thought it to be just one, but it is too big to be just one, they are only the little household stapler staples and the one in the x-ray looks to long to be just one. To me that seems like more to pass and more that could damage is intestines...I called the doc, but no one has called back yet...should I take him back to the ER or wait for the doc to call, or just let it pass...HELP!!!

I think they have to be the worst diapers out there. I have complained to COSTCO to bring back the Pampers line they used to carry, but to no avail. I think the brand is called Kirkland. It is horrible. Anyone else have any problems with these?

My son is turning 3 in December. I'm planning on a Birthday Party at McDonalds. Is there any way I can plan or price this on-line because I'm not entirely sure I want a party there? Can any one suggest anything?

I watch my friends 2yr old 5 days week 10hrs or more a day. I also have two kids of my own a 2yr old and 5yr old. My friend is paying me $80 a week to watch her child and she deducts from my pay if she doesnt come or holiday. My mom says shes using me and should be paying more for those kind of hours and I even take care of her child when shes sick and sometimes she comes to pick her up late because she stops at the grocery store. So I recently told her that I was gonna charge her $90 a week and that she was gonna have to pay every week whether or not she comes or if its a holiday. And also that she had to pick her up by 5pm..(she drops her between 7-7:30 am). So her reaction to this is "well if I have to pay weekly for this I want to claim this on my taxes or I'll use a childcare facility!" So am I charging to much for this because I called around average is $105-$120 a week and some do not even provide lunch? She acted like she got mad I just wanted to see if I was being fair.

He is 4 years old, and in preschool he is learning about calling the police. Now, whenever he sees a phone, he tries to call 911. I don't want to scare him into not calling, but this morning the cops knocked on my door, because he called while I was getting ready for work. How do I stop this, and still let him know the right time and the wrong time for the police?

My little boy is 27 months and has no problem sitting on the potty and going, as long as he is running about the house with no pants on or if I continually watch for signs that he may need to go and I remove his underpants. How can I encourage him to take the next step, i.e. take his own trousers and underwear down. Also he is fine with me most of the time but refuses to use the potty for his father who cares for him in the afternoons for 3 hours (while I work). Can anyone help me?

children have no love, shelter and food, while pets are being given all the attention.
pets can actually take care of themselves because naturally they are made that way but children are different.

My 3 year old has been in daycare for about 3 months now. I drop her off at 7:00 am and pick her up at 6:30 pm. I know it's a long time, but I'm a single mom and have to work. Anyway they have a rule that the kids must wear shoes and socks at all times even while sleeping, sandals are not permitted. Their reasoning is if there is a fire they will not have time to put shoes on all the kids. When my daughter gets home her feet are quite sweaty from having shoes on all day. Is your child’s daycare like this? Is this common with most of them? I can understand them needing to wear shoes, but I think they should be able to take them off while sleeping if they choose. What do you think?

My 4 year old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD. We were in the process of getting him on medication and working on a behavior modification system when we lost our insurance. I have adjusted and can deal with the hyperactivity, inattentivness, but the not listening and tantrums are getting so much worse. I love him to death, after all he is my flesh and blood. I feel horrible saying this, but it is to the point I cannot stand him anymore. He usually has several 20-45 minute tantrums a day. He gets violent towards my husband and me during them. I can only imagine what the neighbors think, since I know for a fact you can hear him several doors down. If anyone has been there and can relate I would love some advice. Disicpline tips and what you do..what works and what doesnt work would be great. I am at my wits end and just want my little sweet boy back...... : ( Thanks.

My daughter wakes up in the middle of the night crying for me to hold her, which eventually leads to her sleeping in my room. She doesn't sleep in her room for longer than 2-3 hours. She has never really slept all the way thru the night when she was an infant except for maybe a total of 5 times. I have tried letting her cry to sleep but that doesn't work either. I have run out of ideas. Please help!

Ever since my nephew had teeth, he's been biting my daughter (there the same age). Some people would tell me it's because he couldn't talk for a long time so that was his way of getting his frustrations out? I don't know...he stopped for about 8 months now and just bit my daugther tonight so bad it broke the skin on 2 fingers. I was LIVID!!! I was so mad I couldn't even speak. The thing that made me the maddest was my nephew said it was bcuz my daugther pinched him (which I find very hard to believe) but even so, even if she did, he should've been given a time out instead of being consoled by his dad!! I'm so mad I want to talk to my sister about it, but I know she felt really really bad :( What should I do, if anything?

My child goes to daycare during the day. She is watched by my mother, my husband or myself when she is not in daycare. It all depends on our crazy schedules.
I used to be a stay at home mom, it was so easy to keep a schedule. Now I am in school and working part time.
For those of you with crazy lives like me, how do you maintain structure in your child's life when they spend time with multiple authority figures?
