Toddler is a term for a child between the ages of one and three years old (some may consider a toddler to be between two and five.) Generally, after the child has passed the period of infancy (from birth to 1 year) the chid enters the stage as toddlers which is until 3 years. Past 3 years until 6 years are then called pre-schoolers.♥

I have been wondering the same thing. My daughter is 16 months old and I often hear her referred to as an infant, but I thought by age 1 she was considered a toddler. So I call her my "Baby tot!" But that's just me. I believe they become a toddler by age 1 and are considered a toddler until the age of about 3 to 3 1/2 when they can walk and somewhat talk. I think it's fair to say that a 4 year old is much too old to be called a toddler.
