Now, I dont want this as a career. I want to volunteer. I want to go around to local highschools and teach to them.

I am still somewhat young (25). Dont you remember all those guest speakers you had in school?

I want to teach them about AIDS, sex, pregnany, Love, STDS,
All sorts of things that kids nowadays usually ignore.

Do I need any special certification??

My dad thinks that driving school is a waste of money and that he is just going to teach me himself. And since you need driving school to get a license in my state (Ohio) if your under 18, this is a problem. According to him I have to wait until I'm 18 to get a license and that he's just going to keep renewing my temps. Please help me to convince him of what a stupid idea this is (proof, such as web links would help alot)...thanks

I personally was married before my first, but who am I to say you need to be married? My cousin has 7 children with her boyfriend, they've been together since they were 19, they're now in their 40's and going strong. They are responsible people, who both work in charity, and are excellent parents (and soon to be foster parents). And there are many other couples like this in the world. What do people think gives them the right to judge people like that as *wrong*?

Im a girl and Im 18 years old and a senior in HS.

I have a cell phone.
I have a tv and a laptop in my room with no restrictions. No blocks on the tv and my mom doesn't have programs that record what I do on my computer.
I don't have a "bedtime".
I don't really have a curfew, it just depends on who I am with and where I am as to how late I can be out.
I can date.
I have a 23 year old friend who works in radio, she knows him and Im allowed to hang out with him where ever and have even been over to his place twice.
She doesn't really regulate what I wear but I don't give her reason to.
I have a Myspace and a Facebook. IM and email.
I don't have a car though all though I do have friends who drive.

Would you say my mom is too lenient with me and lets me do too much?

Im content with the way things are, Im just looking for opinions, now read carefully OPINIONS, not LECTURES.

Why is watching television considered really bad and reading a book is considered the best thing of all. When kids or anyone is watching tv parents don't like it but when any child reads a book all parents and everyone thinks it is the best child. You can learn a lot of stuff by watching television. Just watch the discovery channel and their is so much to learn. You can also learn English by watching tv that's where I have learned all of my english I listen to when people talk. TV is also entertaining most people prefer watching tv then reading a book. And the last thing I would like to say is a picture is worth a 1000 words and by reading one can never picture anything that they are either learning, reading for fun or anything but with a television everything is just picture perfect and a picture is worth 1000 words. I have learned so much stuff by watching tv that I think it is good.

Ok so.. say an average home price in Sydney is in excess of $500,000 and the average home unit is $390,000. The average income in Australia is $50,000 and whilst we all want our children to be above average.. some are never going to make it... that's just how averages work...

So with $50,000 household income your child might manage to service a mortage of $200,000 and if they save really hard they might get themselves a deposit together of ~ $30,000.. (whihc will cover the stamp duty, bank fees and legal expenses... so where on earth will they get the other $300,000 if not from their parents?

So do we charge them rent until such time as they require a mortgage over our property to buy their own.. or do we let them have a good time and blow their money on overseas holidays and night clubbing?

It would be confusing if they were both "Dad" or both "Mom" but calling them by their first names would not be affectionate enough.

Who thinks the ban on hugging is a good or bad thing?

Im against it, Im 18 and Im a senior and I hug my friends at school and I find nothing wrong with it?

High school and middle school are tough and sometimes just that hug can help, so I don't think we should take that away.

If you are for the hugging ban, list your reasons.

"They're growing up too quickly."or "I can't believe how much they've changed."
My oldest son just turned 4yrs last weekend and I got the pictures back from his birthday party today. I was putting them in his album and looking at the pictures from his 3rd birthday and from when my youngest was born in May. Even over the last 7ms, his face has changed so much! It's scary.

... for a "walk in the park" (where he spent many happy childhood days) and then scatter his ashes there has *ANYONE* the right to say that that is "selfish" and "just for yourself" ESPECIALLY when they never even knew him but have just married into the Family yet think that they can control it and everyones emotions too.

We have three kids. Which, if any should we send a bill to?

OK so our eldest (19) is at University.. he works part time and over the holidays he used his money to buy a return flight to Banff where he is skiing for four months. He picked up a job over there. He will return in March. We have not contributed any money towards his working holiday.

Our Son (17) is at school but has a job as a gym coach during the week after school and works setting up and dismantling seating for events on weekends. He earns $20 an hour... buys his own clothes and uses his own money for anything he wants.

Our daughter (14 and 9 months) just started at Maccas earning $6 an hour.. and sells chocolates to her school friends during the week ($400/week) to raise money for her trip to the Olympics in China (she is playing saxaphone). We won't be paying for that trip and she buys her own clothes.

Anyway... we are finding it hard to pay the mortgage .. what with three kids and all... so say you?

Everytime i am on here i see people asking very rudely why women have kids. Then proceed to put lower class women down for wanting a child. Does the amount of money someone has change the fact that having a child is a wounderfull thing. Just because someone is not rich they should miss out on that?

... that you should "carry on as normal" and that continuing to babysit/fetch and carry your grandsons to school will be "good for you" to help you to "snap out of it" (that is :"snap" out of losing your brother! - and that from an *ONLY* child who could never understand!).

If anyone wants to join up in my Yahoo group, AlaskanKids, it's under the Parenting section of Groups. I have a couple of kids and I need ideas on what to do with them (games, outdoor activities, etc.) in Alaska! Please join and give some diversity to this group (because as of right now, it's just me)! Thanks!

Hey, my son is 5 going on 6 in March, and he is getting worse as the months go on. He never had terrible twos, it started around 3, and I swear, he is sooo bad. He doesn't listen, he screams, gets mad easily, throws things. He likes to try to be in control, I guess, and when he's not, WOW, watch out. And before anyone says anything, it's not me. I have two girls who are older than him, and they acted nothing like this. I have tried spanking, positive reinforcment, rewards when he IS good, time outs, talking.....I can't figure it out. I think if things don't start looking up soon, I'm involving his Doctor.

if they are caught with even a tiny bit of marijuana?

What do you think about this? You should be concerned because many children will at least try it. Can you imagine your child not being able to get federal aid for college if they need it only because they were caught with pot?

I am a 32 year old single mom of a great three year old. I am finishing my education so I can get us the *** out of dodge and away from my mother (my need not his). I have really been thinking alot lately that I would really like to start dating again and hopefully find that spark I had three years ago before my son came into my life. I love my kid, but I feel like I disappeared and now only exist for him and his needs. I feel very guilty and selfish when I think about hopefully getting married someday or just finding someone to spend time with. I have not been out of the house except for work and school without him. Am I being selfish or should I spend the next 2 years I have left in school to get back into shape (in more ways than one) and start my life again?

if she's not spoiled and she's down to earth? The person I'm thinking about has her own apartment in moscow (one of the most expensive cities in the world),a huge car with a chauffer, and literally roomfuls of designer clothing, etc. everything paid for by her parents. How is it all right for children of really wealthy parents to get pretty much watev. they want and kids of middle class folks will be considered spoiled if they get just one or two expensive things just by asking for them?

Our daughter is 6 months old. We do not plan to mislead or lie to her and tell her Santa Claus is real. It's ok with me if she wants to pretend that there is a Santa, Easter Bunny, Sponge Bob, etc. But why would i tell her lies and make her think a fat man in a red suit brings presents that her mother and i actually buy?

Are you parents out there being cautious about what you buy? Are you finding it hard to find toys made in America?
Or are you just buying the same ol' lead filled crap from Wal-Mart?

Do they have a better chance of being fat than kids who live with skinnier parents. I'm just wondering if the attitude and diet of the adult will affect the child. Thank you.
