Why is watching television considered really bad and reading a book is considered the best thing of all. When kids or anyone is watching tv parents don't like it but when any child reads a book all parents and everyone thinks it is the best child. You can learn a lot of stuff by watching television. Just watch the discovery channel and their is so much to learn. You can also learn English by watching tv that's where I have learned all of my english I listen to when people talk. TV is also entertaining most people prefer watching tv then reading a book. And the last thing I would like to say is a picture is worth a 1000 words and by reading one can never picture anything that they are either learning, reading for fun or anything but with a television everything is just picture perfect and a picture is worth 1000 words. I have learned so much stuff by watching tv that I think it is good.

It's not about learning.

Reading exercises the brain and eyes. TV doesnt do that. The cognitive strength your brain uses when putting words in sentence structure, figuring our correct pronunciation, etc .... is good for you!!!

Reading Vs Watching Tv

Reading a book is a work out. You have to use your language skills, understanding and imagination -- and actually get involved in the book.
Television is the easy way out. It does all the "work" for you. You don't have to "think". You can put your mind on "hold". Someone else is controlling the images and the speed at which you see them.
Yes, it's said that a picture is worth 1,000 words. But the picture YOU create in your own mind is much more valuable and can be much more fantastic!
Channels like Discovery are very few and far between. Most TV is junk -- badly animated cartoons, mindless violence, stupid situation "comedies" with canned laugh tracks, soap operas, endless "reality" shows with wannabe celebrities. And the English you'll find there is often not that "good".
Just because most people prefer one thing to another doesn't necessarily make that thing more worthwhile!
So, get up off the sofa, turn off the TV and take a walk...maybe even to the library (where you can learn so much more)!

I've come to 2 conclusions on that argument: 1.) The people pushing reading over TV are dinosaurs who dont want to/don't have the capacity to adapt to the explosion of widespread media (tv, internet, etc..) 2.) everything on TV is an ignorant abridged ripoff/version of what has already been written in the 4000+ years of written language, and TV is a distraction from that. You gotta understand i'd wager 90% of all TV shows' sole purpose is to make money so it will be formed/limitated to that end. Books on the other hand, aren't as restricted in their content and are capable of a much richer form of entertainment, albeit different than what most of us TV/internet generations are used to.

I can only speak personally, but I enjoy reading a thousand times better than I like watching television. I do enjoy a well crafted show or movie, but prefer to turn on my internal movie channel. When I read, I envision what is happening with my minds eye. I control how a character looks, feels, and most importantly thinks. Books can delve deeper into the thought process of the character and flesh out feelings and perceptions. With tv, you are limited to preset, visual only clues to what a character feels or thinks. Books can open whole worlds of thought that tv can only dream of.

Plus the best thing about books is that you don't have to wait until the commercial is over to get back into it.

Watching television is more of a passive activity. Reading build vocabulary, imagination and writing skills.
Television is ok in moderation. Sometimes kids end up spending too much time in front of the tv instead of being outside and doing physical activity.

How about you pick up a book on child development and all of the negative affects of television, not the least of which is the extremely high rates of childhood obesity in kids who watch TV and play video games versus children who do not. Get a life! When you have kids you can screw them up any way that you want and raise little dummies - that is your prerogative.

The quandary that numerous parents end up in is they don't really have the time to search for the correct eBook s and learning structure with which to teach their kids but with this specific program https://tr.im/uXczZ , Children Learning Reading this issue is arrived at a end.
Children Learning Reading is really detailed, and your son or daughter can have number problems assimilating the classes while the lessons are well-designed. Because the device is based on phonetics, the learning method is gradual.
In Children Learning Reading program the lessons are distinctive and can't be found in different learning methods.

The PROBLEM with TV- is that it does all the thinking FOR you. You don't need your Imagination- because what your looking at if "fixed" as it IS. When you READ- you use your Brain to figure out HOW things LOOK, WHAT the characters are feeling, and WHAT possible things could happen- next. Of course, if you don't have a Brain- or any Imagination, -then TV is PERFECT for you- because that means you're JUST as "mindless" as the TV Shows are! :)

I agree somewhat.. But there are several reasons which Reading is "better"... For instance, there are Rays coming from the TV that aren't good for your health........another, reading you have to use your imagination, which is very good for kids to learn.....and thirdly, before i go, it's not that TV is so awfully horrible, but, reading is better for your eyes, mind, and it's also more of a challenge for kids to read and picture all of this in their minds..

Not to mention, on TV there's a lot of bad;;commercials, shows, all this that you run into by accident, it's still there...
