I married a wonderful man 3 years ago and he has a 5 yrold son from his previous mariage. My husband only has his son 2 days out of the week and therefore he feels he does not have to disapline his son, my husbands theory is because he only has his son 2 days out of the week that his time with him should be 'fun time' no disapline needed. Now his son has put holes in the wall of our home, throws his toys when he doesn't get his way, kicks our puppy, throws food at the dinner table, has a mouth on him and is just a terror.I have sat back and watched this for 4 years and I am getting tired of it. I feel if my husband doesn't do something now while he is still able to he will be totally out of control in a few more years. What do I do?The kid's mother doen't disapline him and he is in day care 6 days of the wk (even if he is sick) from 6a to 6p.We fight all the time about his son and when I know he is coming over I find reasons to leave the house.PS I have a 12 yr old son he will disapline

Ok. I've been mentoring a 12 year old girl since she was 4. Her older sister was a straight A student in 8th grade and is currently a high school drop out with a 16 month old baby. Her mom just moved again. She's currently staying with her (other) sister's friend so she doesn't have to change schools twice in less than a year. (she attends a K-6 elementary school). I've put it on the table, cleared it with the school district, and discussed with her mom that maybe she should stay with us during the week and attend the 6-8 middle school by our house so she only has to change schools once (not sure how long this arrangement with the sister's friend is going to last) my husband thinks we should wait until the end of the school year if we're going to take her, or wait for a real "Crisis." She's already a year behind in school (2 years in 2nd grade) and her best chance of graduating high school is in a different household. Thoughts? Oppinions? Suggestions?

If so, why? If not, why not?
Do you think the country you live in has an influence on your opinion?
I'm really just interested in what people think - not judging one way or the other.

Is it possible to disown one son and not the other? One of my brother's friend's dad's abused him and he said something to his mom, who blew a gasket and said he was a liar, a whore and a few other things. Now he's at children's service's because she (or he) refuses to do anything with him.

You know what else is stupid? Their other son is into drugs and drinking. Can't the father be sentanced in jail for abuse?!

My boyfriend of 2 years has a 6 year old son from his first marriage and we have a 5 month old daughter together, He babies his son I asked him why and he said It was because I treat him diffrently than our daughter.. I am in no way mean or mistreat his son so don't think that. Is that right they are both his children shouldn't he treat them the same.

My fiance is against us having our child. He is convinced that it will be the end of our relationship, and he has something negative to say about any words of encouragement that I bring to him. I don't know what to do. I want to have our child together with both of us happy about it.

I have never met my 12 yr old nephew and he lives in GA, and I live in MI. I just located my 1/2 sister after 39 yrs of searching and I wanted to send my new nephew a Red Wings game jersey for Christmas because he plays hockey. I have daughters and I don't know how boys fit in their shirts. I don't want to ask my sister because I want it to be a surprise. Do you think a L/XL youth jersey would fit an average size boy that is 12 years old?

we have twin five year old boys. my wife is out of town caring for her mother for a few days. yesterday i was making their breakfest and poured them a bowl of cereal. i went to go shave and get ready for work and get them off to school. when i came back into the kitchen they were both crying. i said, "what on earth is wrong with you two?" they said that i poured the milk wrong!!...WHAT??...so i called my wife and sure enough you have to pour damons milk clockwise and dillons milk counter clockwise...i said, "you are completely out of your mind"...OMG...has my wife lost her mind???

my baby is only 6 months, but it seems like she eats my food with her eyes.
she gulps down an 8- ounce bottle like its nothing. she drinks enfamil with added rice; and sometimes i add rice cereal with that. (the doctor reccomended it last time she went for her shots.) but it seems as if she isnt satisfied. im curious to know when you can start feeding them the food you eat. what are your suggestions, because everyone has their own experience and opinions. she does not have a regular doctor/ pediatrician due to us moving around so much. so what do you think i should do.

she has a tooth growing in...

thanks guys

My daughter is three years old (will be four in April). I carry her around almost everywhere. I love having her in my arms, and she loves it too. My daughter can walk, and of course I let her walk around, too, but whenever I take her out with me, she's in my arms.
I don't have a problem with this because she is not heavy and I love her and love holding her. This did not concern me until yesterday when my sister said "You are following the celebrity trend!". I didn't understand what she meant so I said "What?", and she replied "You know how whenever you see celebrity children, they are always being carried by their parents? Even if they're like four or five and able to walk?".

I don't really see a problem with this. I am just trying to keep close to my daughter because I love her, and kids do grow up fast so I would like to take advantage of the time being.

What do you guys do with your toddlers and young children?

My 8 year old son has problems focusing at school, it is getting worse. His teacher says he is a great kid there are no behavior problems, but he just can not focus and get his work done. When the other kids are done with their paper he is still on the first problem. He understands the work he just can't get going. Any ideas?? Could this be ADD or something else?
