Rape is often viewed by our society as unspeakable. To talk about rape is very taboo.
But killing is much more common. We see it in movies, television, and books all over the place. It has integrated itself as a part of society. So when a parent allows their child to play a game that simulates killing, it means that parent has reached the point where they have become so desensitized, that they feel it is just part of life.
Either that, or they are tired of arguing with their kid.

Yes rape is a violent act against another person on a very intimate level. It is not a skill needed to survive in any world, but is a means for one person to feel better at anothers' expense. It is not a game anymore than murder or war is a game.
Playing army, rough-housing, using squirt guns and even paint balling are not in the same league, because they all come from our innate need to hunt for our food and protect our territory. They are all played with consenting playmates for the pleasure of everyone invovled. We are biologically driven to hone our survival skills, even now when they are not needed per se. We still need to compete for our jobs, search for and procure our food, and guard our homes; so hunting and other "violent" skills are still needed to make our way in this world.
The way your question is worded makes it sound like people are not taught to rape, but in studies it seems that rapists are taught at a young age by abusive parents and/or relatives. Some rapists actually think their behavior is justifiable because of their past social experiences. Our prison systems seem to be very good at teaching the art of rape, with some prisoners with no rape background becoming rapists upon release.
As we are growing up we are suppose to figure out what is socially and morally right and what isn't. Some people do not seem to care one way or the other and become what we consider sociopaths.
Whether they played war games as children has far less to do with how they act as adults as whether they were taught or were capable of empathy and grasping what is right and what is wrong.
If playing cowboys and indians, GI Joe, cops and robbers, football, soccer, or any other "violent sport were to produce bank robbers, murders and thieves, then we would have far more crime than we do now. All of my brothers and myself would be criminals.
We aren't because we know better. We know it is better to help each othe as much as possible and expect the same in return ... it gives us all a better quality of life.

Everyone knows that rape is violence. Games dont put rape in them because of how bad it is. Im not saying that killing in real life is not bad, but if you kid does not know whats real from fake, then you did not do such a great job teaching them. People are so quick to judge video games and music for violence today, when in all reality its not. A video game is not going to tell you to go shoot your teacher, or to kill your best friend. Thats like saying if someone watches a horror movie they are going to go out and kill everyone, or if its a action movie, they are going to try and blow up something.

There is a misconception in society regarding these acts because in some films violence is sometimes has a reason and sometimes not. For my son, I don't like him watching any violence but at preschool he is picking up on the violence other kids see and it bothers me. There is a 3 year old boy in preschool who talks about shanks, what 3 year old should know what a shank is? I tested him a bit and it seems his father is a gamer, so I think what parent should be a gamer? I guess your answer is...some parents shouldn't be parents and kids shouldn't have kids.

Oh but many parents do allow them to play video games that simulate rape, my husband has Grand Theft auto & I was sickened to see that you could rape the hookers & alley woman as they were described.
