my baby is only 6 months, but it seems like she eats my food with her eyes.
she gulps down an 8- ounce bottle like its nothing. she drinks enfamil with added rice; and sometimes i add rice cereal with that. (the doctor reccomended it last time she went for her shots.) but it seems as if she isnt satisfied. im curious to know when you can start feeding them the food you eat. what are your suggestions, because everyone has their own experience and opinions. she does not have a regular doctor/ pediatrician due to us moving around so much. so what do you think i should do.

she has a tooth growing in...

thanks guys

Start giving her some babyfood with the cereal added, it should fill her up, she is starting to teeth so you can get her those long cookies in the yellow package that they sell at Walmart in the baby isle, make sure to watch her because when it gets down to a little less than half it can break a way and she could choke. My daughter loved these. then you can gradually move on to the big kids food that they sell also.

She can eat the food you do now, as long as it is soft food. The only foods that are best to stay away from are food that are spicy, have lots of citrus/ acidy, and fruits like strawberries; other than these and hard foods anything is fine. Like peas, mashed potatoes, some fish, cooked carrots, any cooked vegetable really, bananas, cooked apples, soft low protein meats like hamburger (less than 2 oz a day though for any meat). Things like steaks and pork chops should NOT be given to baby, she would not be able to digest it properly, and stay away from corn, too much starch for baby to be eating.

I hope this gives you an idea, not everyone would agree with me. The thing is to introduce one at a time and wait a day or so to know if she would have an allergic reaction to any table food you give her.

As for the pediatrician, there are free clinics just about every where you go and they can do the well baby for you, and they will be more than happy to give advice.

If she is not getting satisfied with cereal mixed in with her milk then I think you should try the first stage baby food. My grandaughter did the same thing and I started her on it when she was around 4 months old. Also, if she still seems not wuite pacified with the baby food. You can give her mashed potatoes that are very creamy and that may satisfy her better. I also mixed the baby cereal with V8 fusion and that worked great. Honey, it's just mainly trial and error. You just give her a little of different things creamed or whipped well and see what she likes and what seems to fill her up better.

I'd start with mashed ripe banana, then other fruit like cantelope, or watermelon with seeds removed.

Keep away from spicy, salted foods. But I think it is perfectly fine to give her real, healthy food that has been mushed in a blender.

The rule is fruit first. If no bad or allergic reaction then on to vegetables, meat last. Try to introduce foods slowly so that if there is a problem you will be able to identify the source.

I have a ten month old and he has been eating regular food for a while now. The only things that I wouldn't give her is anything with whole milk in it and chocolate (messy diapers). But you are her mother and you would know how she reacts to things better than anyone else would. I'm just letting you know about my experiences, but I say she is ready.

I had a very similar problem with my second baby. He ate like he was storing up for the winter.
It will sound very ordinary, but use your best judgment. Do start with simple things like bananas, cheerios (depending on how many teeth he has) and go from there. Try to stay away from fatty, sugary foods because the baby's digestive system is still touchie.
so good luck, and just go with your gut.

If she is 6 moths old, you should DEFINANTLY have her on solids. Most doctors recommend starting solids at 4 months.you can mix some cereal in a bowl and add fruit, she can eat babyfood, you can mash up fruits and veggies, and the list goes on. If you keep her on a liquid diet she will be overweight.

of course she is, shes hungry mommy and wants some people food too!

she is old enough to start warmed (not hot) stage 1 baby foods.
1/3 to 1/2 jar to start off with:
fruit mixed with her rice cerial in the morning bottle after,
jar of fruit or veggie and bottle at lunch
jar of veggie and bottle at dinner.

or grind your own food in a puree machine; i did both grind and jars, so what ever works for you or need at the time.

I have 3 kids and 3 grandchildren and they all started eating solids at 5 months. That is normal for her to eat because she is discovering new food. The more she eats the less vitamins supplements you have to give her.

My son is seven months old and has been on solid food since he was four months old. I would start your daughter on stage one foods first and then move to stage two later on. Make sure that whoever your daughter is being seen by knows what you are doing. You may even call the old doctor that she went to to see what they think.
