12 month seems really little, but if they are a good sleeper and you feel confident that they'll be ok in a big bed. Why not!!!

I would Agree with all of the other answers above it is a matter of the baby comfort and your own do they sleep fine in the crib? or are they out growing it? my 3 kids where all diffrent one went to b bed at 2 and I do not mean toddler bed the other 2 where in there beds at 1yr and a half so u have to be the judge and way all the options I also know it is not a good Idea if your little one dose not sleep all night to move them then u loose more sleep

Really depends on how big the baby is, and whether the infant is a confident walker.

A bed guard is there to help avoid the child falling out of bed when asleep. It does not stop a young infant from crawling up to it, climbing the bed guard and falling off.

My kids slept great in their cribs. They went into their big beds at about 2 1/2. It was an easy transition because I was able to talk to them about it. They understood and they got to pick their bedding. In my opinion 12 months is way too early. They are still babies.

It depends on how comfortable you are with the idea of them wandering around at night if they should wake up. Bed guards are great but kids can get around them if they are awake. I personally didn't put my children into a bed until I was comfortable they would climb down and find me if they woke up.... that was about 2 1/2.

As you can see by the previous answers, everyone thinks differently. My eldest was in a cot till 2 years 8 months, my middle one is still in a cot at 22 months. I know that he wouldn't go to sleep on his own if he was in a bed, we would be getting lots of visits.

I wouldn't say a certian age.. However I would say when they start showing you signs that they are ready, lifting themselves up on the bar of the crib, walking etc... my baby is 12 months and not ready for a bed yet

I think 12 months is too young.
They are warmer in a cot a bed can be too big for them and so they get cold and not as safe even with a guard rail, wait til 2 yrs I think then they are better at walking and if they fall out they wont hurt themselves as much.
