Oh my goodness. I cannot believe some of these parents that dont know how to be "parents" they only know how to be "friends" then they wonder why their job is so much work and their kids wont listen to them. They cant even get their kids to clean up toys, do a simple chore, to bed in THIER own bed, nap times. Eating foods. Its nuts. You people should learn to be in control with the situation! You are their parents and its your JOB to make those kids respect you and do what is EXPECTED and if not PUNISH them for it. Im not saying you have to spank them or any of that. take things away from them, let them know there are bounderies and STOP giving warnings. Children are much smarter than we realize! And its about time to step up and be parents and stop tootsie footing abround worried about "hurting" your child. I bet 90% of people in here had way stricter parents then we will ever be. Hey we all turned out fine didnt we? So why has parenting changed so much through the years?

I require that my kids get dressed to the shoe when they wake up in the morning even if they do not have school. I do not make them keep their shoes on until bedtime, but I make them keep them on until we are in for the night. Does anyone else have this rule. It make getting the kids ready on school days less stessful because they are use to doing it. it also make leaving the house faster because they are already dressed. Also I find that they are more active when they are dressed.

Something that doesnt involve leaving the house is better, since we I dont have a car and hate the bus.

My daughter goes 5-6 days without a bowel movement. My doc said she's not constipated but has an problem with her rectum muscle. His advice is take rectal temp/use my pinky to stimulate. The problem is these arent working and she is gassy everyday. Glycerin supositories work great. He said he didnt want me to get in the habit. Are they safe to use every other day for a period of time?

What are the long term effects of these medications? Why do people want their active kids to be like zombies? Parents need to quit lookin for a quick fix to kids problems . Drugs is not the answer. What gives and this I do care about. Some people dont want to put the time in to parent they are too busy with their carrers and schooling that they leave the raising up to the schools and the teachers cant deal wit it!!!Raise ya kids poeple

My 17 year old son was in the shower last night and I "accidentally" walked in on him drying off and I saw, right above his butt-crack, the words "Arbeit Macht Frei" tattooed in red ink. First of all, he is not allowed to have a tattoo while living in my house! And second, does anyone know what this means and why would he have it tattooed right there?

my kid is 15 years old and will not wake up to an alarm. cold water does nothing. i have physically tried to yank him out of bed and he has contacted child protective services. plus he just resists by using dead weight ( he is almost 200lbs). he is on probation for not attending school and the judge said its up to me to get him to school or ill be fined and jailed. judge said i can use any means to get him out of bed but im assuming this does not include physical stuff. what do i do?

Like if I tell my mom that I have a boyfriend she'll freak out or if I tell her that I like someone she'll make fun of me.

Why is that such a big deal? e_e

Afterall, we are all one and want to be one, right? This will give the kids something to do while their mother is actually NOT on the couch. I think this idea is grand.

With the exception of abuse why would women do this? Im mainly asking women who do and who do it to "get him back". Seriously,if I split with my husband for anything other than abuse, I would be very angry if he didnt spend just just as much time with them. Their still his kids. Every other weekend dosent cut it. Every day, just an hour and time on weekends and every couple weeks(or something) the two parents should be together with their kids, these kids still love their parents even if you hate each other, they should still have their "family" once in a while.
You may be single but your not childless.

I found some disturbing evidence that my 17-year-old son might be a drug mule. The other night, I saw what I think was a corner of a plastic bag of white powder sticking out of his anus. I don't want him to know how I found out. What should I do?

Do all parents see their children as being really succesful? My daughter is not a great student. But she is a great negotiator, extremely strong willed, and when she wants something, she stops at nothing.

I mean you hear those stories all the time, 'OMG I'm pregnant, my life is over, I don't want the baby, how did this happen' etc etc. Well, sorry, but hello, what do you think can happen when you're doing the very act that causes pregnancy?!?! If you're not ready to handle what COULD happen as a result of having sex, you're NOT ready to have sex, imo.

He's been like this for about 6 months now. He'll scream and throw a fit if he sees the two of us hug or kiss. I tell him "Mommy and daddy love eachother." but he doesn't seem to get it.

He is really a sweet child, but when it comes to discipline, if he's not minding, he laughs in my face. Even when I'm face to face with him practically screaming for him to do right. It's like he's not scared at all. The only thing and last resort I take if he won't listen and continues to laugh is spanking him. What action can I take to stop this and why is he all of a sudden doing it? Is it just a phase?
