I mean you hear those stories all the time, 'OMG I'm pregnant, my life is over, I don't want the baby, how did this happen' etc etc. Well, sorry, but hello, what do you think can happen when you're doing the very act that causes pregnancy?!?! If you're not ready to handle what COULD happen as a result of having sex, you're NOT ready to have sex, imo.

Mellisa - I see your point, but even married couples who are on birth control and don't want kids should KNOW that birth control isn't 100% - there's still a possibility that pregnancy could occur, happens all the time.

Yes , a very well put question . . Hope this raises their responsibility .. well having pre martial sex , according to me is a big NO NO .. You may dismiss this off as conservative thinking , thats fine , individual differences are bound to occur .

On the other hand ,using protection is not 100 % so people should be aware very well of their responsibility , worse still some people mate not out of love but sheer compulsion of the body which is worse ! .. People donot realise along with all the love ... and the other extreme the "bodily urges" comes a sense of responsibility , rights are fine as long as the duty is done !

Thanks for asking this question , and keep up that spirit!

The reason is quite simply because many people are not informed properly about sex. Thanks to our buddy George Bush, schools are coerced into teaching abstinence programs, that don't actually educate about sex at all. They simply tell people not to do it, which is stupid and has been proven not to work (abstinence works, telling teens not have sex, doesn't).

So youngsters experiment as they have for centuries, and accidents happen. They don't know all the facts, and they believe stupid old wives tales like, "A virgin can't get pregnant the first time," and, "you can't get pregnant x number of days after a period," or, "he pulls out..." etc.

So the reason people are shocked when they get pregnant is because they were never properly educated in the first place. We need to give people all the facts so that they understand all the risks involved, and how to better prevent unwanted pregnancy.

You also have not taken into account peer pressure, alcohol and drugs. These are other important considerations. Not everyone has the same life as you.

First I've wondered this for a while...what is IMO?

Anyway--sometimes people have protected sex and still end up pregnant. I knew a girl who had sex on birth control with a condom and spermicide who got pregnant. That's a shock.

I understand what you are saying. I think some people don't think it can happen to them. I think a lot of people think the pull out method (I call it the pull and pray way) really works and then are shocked when it doesn't. I think there are a lot of factors.

I honestly don't believe anyone who has a child is ready to have one. Sure they may be financially stable and have planned it out BUT--no one can imagine the journey of parenting.

I understand your point and agree completely but I still find that there are people who do make mistakes--or have special circumstances. Sex is a part of human nature. It's just sad that parenting isn't the same.

Because they're either in denial or just don't think about the consequenses of their actions. It happens in all situations, not just in pregnancy. LIke for example...If I drink this bottle of tequila it will be fun...but perhaps i'm not thinking of the fact that if i drink TOO much tequilla, I could end up in the hospital or dead. See what I mean?

they drink and have unprotected sex that`s why they fall pregnant.......unwanted babies cause problems to them....i wonder how you feel when you have sex while you are drunk.....i mean you cann`t even think about the plessure the next day when you are sober....drunkards never know what was happening at the party the attends he will only remember going to the party and drinking beer nothing else what happens there after it`s a myth to them so LADIES AVOID SEX WHEN YOU ARE DRUNK!AND THE GUYS TOO.

Although I agree with you, there are married couples who are old enough to have children who don't want kids, or people who have kids and don't want any more. They're usually shocked because they're birth control method failed them. So although I agree with you, married couples have every right to be having sex.

you are so right girl, even bc methods can fail, I guess people think that is never gonna happen to them, and keep having sex but aren't mature enough to take responsibility if a pregnacy comes, specially teens, and some adults who act like teens too.
