I am a stay at home mom and the only time I ever sit on the couch is while reading the kids a story? Sorry that your wife isn't "trained" properly.
I don't know where you live, but in the USA the military is voluntary. No one can be forced to join.
Quick note to Denny M.-
My husband is military and I know a little bit about how it works in the year 2006 thank you very much!

I'm a stay at home mom and I was in the Air force thank you very much. Now can I ask you why you have some many issues with stay at home moms? LOL The only time I'm on the couch is when I'm reaching into it and pulling out the millions of crayons and hair ribbons and socks that the children leave behind every day. Oh- and lately yes I do sleep there because I was pregnant and it was more comfortable for me to sleep there and easier for me to get up and pee 20 times a night. And now it's easier for me to sleep there because I can put my newborn son's bassinet next to it and I can get to the kitchen easier to make bottles for my TWO children who do not sleep through the night. Any more questions jerk off?

well, that isn't stereotypical or anything is it? as a stay at home mom i work harder than i ever did in the workforce and believe me i did some pretty hard work as a printer but after my 12 hr shift was over i was free to come home and sit on the couch for as long as i so chose ah those were the days but now i am always on the run with shopping cooking laundry play groups gymnastics getting her daddy off to work speech therapy cleaning house paying bills drs appts trips to the park sleepovers getting up in the middle of the night when she is sick or has a bad dream there is always something thhat needs done while she is up about the only time i have to myself is when she is in the childcare at my gym i was in the army right after high school and trust me even basic training doesnt hold a candle to raising a child at least they give you sundays off maybe all fathers should be taught that stay at home moms arent on an extended vacation and could use some help around the house from time to time

Oh heavens i sure hope not! its bad enough that men that have wives/children need to be. let the mother be on the couch taking care of the kids, i have been doing that for 17+ years, once my oldest daughter graduates from school this year i am enrolling in becoming a school district cop! Then she can take and pick up her little sister to/from school who is a freshman now anyways LOL,,,by the way, what will give the kids something to do if mom is not around?

I think your question is ridiculous (unless I read it the wrong way). I definitely think you should re-phrase it unless you want a whole bunch of stay-at-home-moms right down your throat on this one. The only reason I'm even responding to your ignorance and stupidity is because I'm earning points. You need to get your head checked...ps. what would the kids be doing while we all were away??? Your wife should leave you with 4 kids and go to a foreign country for at least a year, maybe then you'll appreciate her!!!

...who is going to watch the kids then while she is away in the military? And whats the dad going to do when mom gets blown up by a land mine??? Find him a new wife that he has to send out to Iraq??? If you are seriously asking this question, I wish I could beat you silly.
your logic makes no sense.
And I agree 100% with Heather, the post above me.... most stay at home moms do NOT have the time to sit on the couch...... and when they do they are LUCKY! I'm sure at your job you sit on your @&& all day... you probably have some nice chair the whole time your at work... so you need to shut up.

I think you need a reality check. Most women are kept on their toes, with their lives revolving around the children. We rarely have time to relax at the couch. The only reason I get in "quality" computer time is by having my husband home or actually getting on right after my daughter goes to sleep. Military is nothing compared to being a mom.

What??? Your question does not make any sense. First....... before what???? How will a mother in Iraq give the kids something to do???? Who is going to raise the kids, a stranger??? Are you a communist????
Raising a human being is the most difficult job there is. Most hardly ever get to sit on the couch but God forbid a mom get to sit down!!!

Not all stay at home moms sit on the couch all day. In fact the only time I get to sit down is when I'm reading to my daughter or when she's taking a nap (and that's only after all the housework is done) And by the way...my husband is in the military (infantry...not a desk job) and he says that he'd never want to trade jobs because mine is harder. You ought to keep in mind that being a stay at home mom is a 24 hr a day job so if someone takes a few minutes to sit down thent hey are entitled to it!

Buddy, we're suppose to be defending our wives, not sending them out to test land mines. Get a clue.
(Just a note to "mommyof4", in the U.S. you can be forced to go into the military, it's called selected service, but its still conscripture. Most soldiers from Vietnam were drafted. (Most of them black too hmmmm......)
Another quick note to "mommyof4", not to discredit your expertise on this matter, see http://www.sss.gov/. Even in 2006, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Funny thing is, I'm not even from the US and that is a well known fact "military expert".
