He's been like this for about 6 months now. He'll scream and throw a fit if he sees the two of us hug or kiss. I tell him "Mommy and daddy love eachother." but he doesn't seem to get it.

Probably because he doesnt want to share you. Little boys get really posessive about their mothers, and dont want to share their attention with anyone. :)

That and all kids reach an age where they express empathy according to their own convictions. He might think its embarassing to hug and kiss someone like that, and so he's embarassed for you.

Whatever it is, just ignore him, and continue on. Kids need to see that their parents are affectionate and loving towards eachother, it gives them a solid foundation to grow from.

He will out grow it :)

It is not uncommon and it is normal for some children to be that way in their early years. It is jealousy and he does not know how to express it. Both of you need to make sure you hug and kiss on him, daddy needs to make sure he does this a lot too. Then when the two of you are affectionate and he pitches a fit, do not stop or pull away from each other, he can not win this, he needs to get used to the fact that you will hug daddy and daddy will hug you, that the two of you will kiss and it will stop little by little. If you pull away from each other, that will only re-enforce what he is doing and make it harder to break this pattern of behavior.

If your husband won't even admit he acts differently toward the two then that is the first problem. What your looking at is your son growing up and becoming an adult feeling like his mom choose this other family over him. By allowing him to go stay with grama it may seem like the easiest solution but it is really going to make your son feel like you don't want him around because even if it's his request you are agreeing to it. Make you son stay at his own home and tell your husband that every time you see this happening you are going to point it out to him. Obviously don't point it out in front of the kids but definitely make it known. Maybe your husband really does see it but he is embarrassed. A counselor for your husband may help because without someone to talk to it's going to get worse as your son becomes a older. I don't think that you need family counseling but I do think that you and your husband should go talk with someone about this.

My son has been like that since he was about 2 years old and he is 5 now and still acts this way. He dosen't want me and his daddy to hug, kiss or even talk to each other. He claims if i kiss my husband i don't love him and the same when my husband goes to kiss me. He is so jealous over his daddy. I don't know what to do about this. People told me he would outgrow this but he is five years old now!!!!

It is jealously, plain and simple. I hope you have better luck in stopping it than i have.

This is because you or your husband bonded with him very well, and to see others encroaching on his territory causes him to be frightful. Try this...just including him in a mutual huggy-kissy situation but he is the center of both your attentions....try this after a bath, when he is relaxed and have daddy give him some rasberrys on the belly while you tickle him.It put him at the center where he wants to be. We all need to feel special....and you would be unhappy if your husband forgot your birthday...but for a child he needs reassurance daily that he is special. As he grows, the bonding passes from mon to dad and it is not unusual for one parent to feel a little jealous...given time, he'll be fine.

he is jealous, and he wants your attention all for himself.but don't worry,he'll grow out of it.my son was the same.he used to come between my hubby and i every time he saw us hugging or kissing and tried to pull him away from me saying 'my mummy'.and i used to pick him up and give him a hug and a kiss and then let hubby hug both of us.and then let them two to hug and kiss.and after a little while he was ok with it. after that he even went through the stage when he would push us to hug and kiss each other all the time...

He doesn't hate it. You've given your son.. all the attention from the beginning, and now he's jealous of the fact that you and your hubby are trying get some quality time. This is normal if you've given one more attention than the other. Ask your mom she knows!

It probably jealousy. He'll grow out of it. Try to include him in love time. First you tell him give "give mommy a kiss. now give daddy a kiss. now mommy's turn to give daddy a kiss."

its simple beth, im a dad although my ex and i split now i only see him when it suits her, but our children did the same, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that you give him much of your attention 24-7 but if ur partner works then that is all he gets until your partner returns, when he does you naturally want to spend time with him however your baby is now the specatator and asks himself, wheres my huggles? so instinctively as babies do he begins to cry out until he has your attention once more its perfectly natural its jealousy nothing more it doesent matter what the age it happens.
p[erhaps may i suggest intergrating him into your time together maybe kiss for daddy kiss for baby, and perhaps your partner can do the same. give it a try and let us know.
sorry if it doesent help much.
all the best

Because you're "his" and he doesn't want daddy to have you. :) It's cute. My 15 month old gets in between us when we kiss and I tease her and say "my daddy" and she will wiggle us apart and grab one of us and give us hugs and kisses.
