I'm not encouraging my sons to fight, but I do think they need to know how to defend themselves. For this reason I have not only taught them to fight, but also have the practice on a kick bag and have them work out. I also have taught them how to deal with someone wanting to fight them and to use none violent methods when necessary. I do not want my kids being bullied.

My kids have a pair sandals for going swimming and other water activities, but for everyday wear we do not allow them to wear sandals with a few exceptions. As far as flipflops never. They are bad for their feet and are unsafe. Are me and my wife the only one that feels this way?

I am a mom of two girls age 12 and 9. My son is two and when I change his diaper (we are currently pottytraining too), he grabs his boy parts and tends to be kinda rough that even I whince. He plays with his parts and has even put his finger in the spot where it just doesnt belong. I dont remember my girls doing this. Other parents have told me not to discourage this.

Also my son has a cold with a cough. He needs a set of shots that are due but Ive been told not to get them while he is sick. Is it safe anyway?

He also started waking thru the night and screams holy terror when I wont pick him up and lay down with him. I dont even have to lay with him. He is content to sleep on the love seat as long as I am on the couch too. He does this because I lay with him and watch tv till he crashes out. I dont want to give up the cuddle time. He's my last baby as I cant have anymore. If I leave him in his crib to cry he cries enough to make himself throw up. Im such a pushover.

I was at the supermarket and this lady was p ulling at her kid by some harness like it was some dog. She would yank the leash and yell at him. Why are people like that?

Some parenting books written by christians say its the best way to do it, mainly because the hand is for love not hitting. The beleif is they will not fear your hand unless the paddle is in it. I was wondering if anyone else agrees.

Did you know that 92% of women who have abortions regret it for the rest of their lives?

Did you know that less than 2% of abortions are due to rape? And less than 6% due to medical complications (only 1% being a risk to the mothers health)?

Did you know that women who have abortions are more likely to get breast cancer?

Did you know that 1 out of 4 babies are aborted?

Did you know that every 11 seconds a baby was murdered before it had the chance to take its first breath?

Did you know that a babies heart begins to beat between the 18th and 25th day after conception? And brain waves are detected at 40 days?

Did you know that fully developed, full term babies are grabbed by their legs, pulled half way out as if being born breach, careful not to pull their head out, and a pair sissors is jammed into the back of its head, sucking out its brains, and crushing the skull?

Did you know that your "choice" is murder?

I heard my daughter and her friends talking about shopping and whatnot, and two of her friends come from wealthy families. They were talking about how much money their parents give them to waste on clothes and shoes, and they took pride at the fact that they were spoiled. I'm baffled...those kids were bragging about their maids and how they look down on "poor people". Are wealthy parents so stupid that they teach their kids that they're better than everyone else?? Since when is it "cool" to be spoiled like Paris Hilton??

So you're talking to a childless couple and you briefly mention your child. And they talk about their pet's "personality" and how little Fido or Fluffy is so much like a baby...c'mon...

...or people without children who only talk about reality shows and then they question why someone with a child doesn't have time to keep up with such silliness?

I can remember being about 14 and of course having the smart mouthed teenager attitude that I did at the time I announced one night at dinner that I couldnt wait to become 18 so then they(my parents) couldnt control me anymore and my dad hit the roof saying as long as I lived under his roof I would be subjected to any and all house rules including being grounded.Do you believe that 18 year olds should still be under parental control? I ended up moving out and becoming a parent at age 18(well almost 19)so I never had to deal with this issue.

How can we teach young girls to be confident without needing constant affirmation about their looks?

I see countless questions on this forum posted by young girls asking "Am I pretty?" and posting pictures of themselves. Aside from the fact that it's not a good idea for kids to post pictures of themselves on the internet, why do our American girls need such constant affirmation that they look attractive?

I've noticed this ever since elementary school. Girls that say things like: "I'm so ugly," or "I'm so fat," just so that people will protest: "No! You're very pretty!"

How can we teach young women to be satisfied with the way they look?

I'm 30 and was lucky enough to have parents that gave me lots of opportunities so that I could be successful, but there were still lots of times when I almost ruined things (when I was a teenager etc.). Obviously most parents try to give their kids lots of opportunties and have high expectations of them, but I think this is more prevalent in the Asian culture (we are Asian). Also, my Mom, despite having been a Psychology professor when she was younger, was a home-maker when we were kids, raising us and running my Dad's business. I am already 30 and make a lot more money than my husband - as in - we basically live solely on my income as his is minimal..... so I think I'll never be able to have kids.... and give them the kind of life and commitment that my parents gave me... and when I see so many of my friends (that I know make way more than their husband/boyfriends but still less than I make) or just other women out and about that look really really young, I just wonder...

I'm 18 years old. and my parents just told me today that they adopted me when I was a baby. I asked them before if I was. I kinda knew cause I don't look like anybody in my family. My sisters are dark skin and i'm light....Anyways..I still love this family. Before they told me...when my mom hugged me i felt something...but after i don't feel anything...Is that normal? I love her to death. My feelings hasn't changed. But what really got me mad was is that I asked them if I was and they said no. I know its hard but they could have told me then so i wouldn't take it so hard now. Has anyone else been through this? Some help please. I don't know how to deal with this!!

They be talking about "not eating their vegatables" and "disrespecting the elderly" just all kins of stuff that make me say "whatttt!!!!" If my daughter talks about shes not eating her vegatables, I'm gonna spank her ***.But hey maybe im over-reacting? I just heard my daughter ask me something , and i said where did you hear that at, and she said "kids next door" and i said hmm, this is a good topic. What do you parents think
