My kids have a pair sandals for going swimming and other water activities, but for everyday wear we do not allow them to wear sandals with a few exceptions. As far as flipflops never. They are bad for their feet and are unsafe. Are me and my wife the only one that feels this way?

Sandals and flip flops are not to be worn all the time . They cause the child's feet to widen over time and loose there arch support.Shoes with good arch supports will help the child walk and run better now and in the future with less stress on the feet , legs and back.

You have a couple of problems here. One is with feet, the other is with grammar. Which do you want to look at first?
okay. Feet it is.
There is nothing wrong with wearing flipflops or sandals every day. They are not bad for the feet. In fact, feet get more exercise wearing flip flops than in regular shoes, as the toes are constantly in motion holding the central peg in place and flexing upwards with each step. Nice, solid oxfords inhibit foot motion. Kids who wear flip flops NEVER have corns or bunions, while the good solid oxfords result in bunions, corns, warped toes, hammer toes, ingrown toenails, pump bumps on the heel and a host of other podiatric problems.
As far as grammar - your last sentence should read: Are my wife and I the only ones who feel this way?
And have a nice night.....

My 10-year-old daughter wears sandals whenever it's warm outside. She doesn't care much for most flip-flops because the thong piece between the toes is uncomfortable for her. She does wear closed shoes to school and daycare, and always appropriate athletic shoes for sports. But I have found with my toddler that he falls a lot in sandals. I now buy only Stride Rite shoes for him because they give him the extra support he needs to maintain good balance and stability. But when he's a little older we'll try sandals again.

If it is summer they wear sandals. Unless we're going to the playground where they'll be playing hard. Then they wear sneakers. They wear flip flops only when going to be beach. My 3 yr. old can never get flip flops to stay on so they are beach shoes only.
I really don't think what they wear on their feet is that crucial. I mean you probably feed your children prepackaged snack foods. Right? Do they eat skippy peanut butter, teddy grahams, ritz crackers? Then you are loading their poor bodies full of cancer causing trans fat. And you're worried about which shoes they wear?

I won't let my kids where them to anywhere except water activities. Kids drop stuff all the time, they run into things, and most flip flops do not have treads on the sole making them prone to sliding. Besides, in a working environment, such as school, it makes you look less then studious, and more like you cant wait to get out of there.

I'm not a parent, but I have never heard of a parent not letting their kids wear flip flops to school. In my high school and now in college almost everyone wears flip flops all the time.

I totally agree with you. I have a 10 year old son who would wear sandals 24/7 if I let him.

I totally agree. I don't think flip flops are good for anyone, except maybe if you're going to the mailbox or something. I see kids all the time at the park in flip flops and they're always falling or something.
