We've tried everything from putting soap in her mouth to spankings and time-outs. Nothing is working, and I'm totally at a loss. Any suggestions or advise would really be appreciated.

I think most of you completely misunderstood my question.

First of all, let's get one thing out of the way. Yes, the molestor is the one ultimately at fault for doing what child molestors do. No question about that.

But, if you read the news and you read studies, you will find that about 1 in 4 females in America, has been sexually molested as a child. And over 75% of them were molested by someone that was either in the family or was considered a friend of the family.

Is everyone still following me? Good.

Now, if mothers - ALL mothers - just became a little bit smarter and stopped being so gullible and trusting, then they could prevent over 90% of the molestations happening today.

Mothers should simply not leave their children around men unsupervised. Period

Now I know there are a few female molestors, but compared to men the ratio is tiny.

As far as fathers being responsible too. I would say yes. But ultimately, the mother is the one who has to step up, because some...

how would u handle a child saying that she is getting headaches? She is 4 urs old and it seems when ever she feels tension with one of the people living in the house she gets these headaches. Now when he is home and I leave the room she tells him "stop looking at me" when I come in the room he says I was not looking at you. Now this only happens when I am not in the room. He says that she is lying and that one day she is going to lye about something else and get someone in trouble. She is only 4 and does not know about that stuff that he is talking about. If get get what I mean! She is well beheaved untill he gets home . When her dad gets home she does not act up. But as soon as he is around(the house guest) she does I am at my wits end and I am all out of ideas, he is leaving in a month or two. What can I do? any suggestions?

Ok I live with my husband and his grandparents and his one brother. Till my husband finishes college. My husband goes to school full time and works part time. Myself have been hired for a job on the weekends because where I am hired they do not have a 5:30pm shift through the week. So during the time while everyone is at work or school I'm at home with my son taking care of him granted I do my husbands and I side of the house cleaning. Plus do the odds and ends of things on the part of the house we all share such as dishes cleaning the living room. Picking up after everyone else cuz by time they get home from working they throw their shoes and whatever else there is in the floor of the living room. Eat dinner and never bother to do dishes that night. Then my husband ask me to help him with his school work on top of it. Am I being takin advantage of? Yeah I know I don't work much now but I still have a kid to. What is your opinion?

What do you guys think?

I would say yes, she is very much responsible, because by now, mothers should have figured out that you can't trust any male around your child. Just read the news. Uncles, brothers, priests, "friends," even fathers molest their own daughters.. It is more common than one would think.

I think an intelligent mother would not risk her child's health and welfare.

Some guys may be offended by this, but that's just tough luck. A good mother should much rather want to "offend" her brothers or her father or priest than to risk her child being molested.

I mean swatted as a consequnce, not savagely or needlessly beaten. For those of you who were spanked as a child, do you think it had any negative effects on you? I was spanked when I was young, always with an explanation of what I did wrong, and why it was wrong. I'm now a loving mother, and I look back and see that spanking didnt hurt me in any way. I grew up in a loving home, and usually just a warning did the trick for me, but sometimes I just needed a swat, and I even KNEW i did. Does anyone out there think that spanking had a negative effect on them? What were your experiences?

-Experiences with YOUR children dont count, unless they are grown. Otherwise, you dont really know HOW they turned out, do you? I am asking for YOUR experience. Thanks! Just trying to get some insight.

I have to do a paper in college about the different ways parents punish their children. If you don't believe in spanking, tell me why? What are other ways parents punish their children?

If you nursed, how long?
NOT meant as an attack or an opinion. Beliefs on this matter are irrelevant, everyone has their own circumstances. I'm just trying to get an idea of what is the norm these days. My grandmother told me that in here day, breastfeeding was taboo.

I wish I could ask this to my parent directly... but my mom has passed away long time ago and because of that, my dad doesn't want to answer this kind of question... what do you all think then? Any lifelong parenting experience to share me with...?

My son is almost 16 months old. His whole life, he has had sleeping issues. (much like me) I held him until he fell asleep until he was about one, and then I started putting him to sleep on his own. It was hard for him at first but after a couple of days he seemed to get the hang of if. Well, now, it's like 4 nights out of the week that I have to fight with him. I put him in his crib and he screams and cries for about 45 minutes before he falls asleep! Every few minutes I go into his room and hug and kiss him and lay him down but he continues to fight me. Do I let him cry or lay with him? I feel so guilty. I feel like a bad mom when I let him cry, but at the same time, I think if I go and get him, I'm failing as a parent.
